Hey everyone! I’m thinking about picking up a dry herb vape in a couple of weeks so I can sample my girls comprehensively when I get there. Also because I usually prefer rosin now-a-days and a vape gets me close to that without as much work.
I’m hunting for recommendations. I’d like something portable and on the low/moderate side of price range. I can probably come up with a couple hundred but I’ve got grow stuff to buy too!
Would also prefer something with an extract chamber thing for dabs or whatever else I make/get my hands on.
While we’re at it, I’m also interested in anything awesome that doesn’t fit the bill! Home units, expensive but worth it or maybe something unrelated that will make me and others happy to learn about!
Doesn’t hurt to have a wish list or just knowledge to share if anyone ever asks me.
The top one is my journal and I have recently bought a lobo a month or two ago and @merlin44 was just discussing how we like ours.
The bottom link is for @DieselGRWR thread he already started about vapes .
Hope you find something to help you Growmie and have a good day friend.
I bought a little unit called “The Alternate” by Vivant. Been using it for several years now and am very happy with it. It was also under $100. Vivant dot com
I was always a bong smoker until I tried my nieces PAX Plus three years ago. I bought one the next day and put my bongs away. Way easier to clean and none of the smell. I love the aroma and taste from a dry herb vaporizer over a bong. When I vape my latest grow of moby dick, it tastes like grapefruit, and when I smoke it from a bong, it tastes like the brick weed we smoked back in the seventies.
I love my little xMax v3 Pro. Says it can hold 0.25 gram, but I get 0.30 in it. Great for taking the dog for a walk on the trails, no smell, no big clouds, very discrete. Has on-demand and session modes, variable temp setting (I like 4minutes at 195C and then 2 more 4 minute sessions at 210C on a fill. Two fills per battery charge). And was $100canadian!
Alright, been more strapped for cash then I expected recently. This, in part, led me to buy in for the Alternate by vivant!
It’s come up in price to about 120 but I got a grinder, the vivant edge and the nomad for free so I feel like I got that value out of them. Also picked up the magneto for $10 (60% off according to them) Plus a bong adaptor thing and the accessory pack. Grand total is about 138 pre shipping.
I’ll be eyeing some of those other pieces for the future, maybe start a little collection. It’d be less showy than my bongs but functionality trumps!
Thank you all again for the recommendations! I look forward to one day trying many of your favorites!
It’s actually a pretty capable little unit. I run it with the airflow on high and set the bucket temp for 395F. I’ll get 3 good hits off of that bucket in 60 seconds and it’s off to the races haha! In fact; I use mine out of preference (about to fire it up too). The battery will allow for 5 or 6 heating cycles before needing charging.
Also; no need to grind if you’re lazy. I just loosely break up flower when I use it.
It seemed like it would be a deal for the price point. Most others I liked, with accessories, were significantly more.
I’ll probably max or 90% airflow and work up to your settings and maybe beyond to find a sweet spot for me. Once I’m used to the way it hits me I’ll probably get bolder.
I’ll have to experiment with the grind too. I’m usually adamant about grinding for an even burn but might make it last a little longer if I break up a bit rougher. The grinder they gave me apparently attaches to it? I’m interested to see.
Just waiting for it to get out the door and travel cross country. So far the former seems like it’ll take longer. My fault for ordering on a Friday afternoon I guess.
Alright, so I got the unit and we had a rough meeting. Idk if it was the battery I bought or they manufactured the battery compartment too small but I fought that sob for like 20-30 minutes to get the battery in. Was very concerned I was going to break it. Though the profanity probably made it hard to tell.
I will be charging it when it dies as opposed to swapping batteries. Have a flashlight the other battery I got can live in.
Once I got it in, I decided I’d try your settings out. Normally I take it slow with new devices but I was annoyed, we’ll say, so I just set it and ripped it a few times.
Offered a great flavor profile! Probably be even better when I get used to that vape aftertaste. Was easy to operate and honestly the best buzz I’ve gotten off straight flower in a long time! I usually vape rosin and I’ve been mixing hash with flower recently so I’m pretty impressed!
I’d definitely recommend this device thus far. Just advise that the batteries are not included and it really seems to want to keep it that way.
I did use the little grinder I got free (it came with one too I really didn’t need a grinder in the first place) and it’s interesting that it attaches to it but unnecessary for home use. Could be pretty cool it you were riding in a car or outside doing stuff. Might help prevent spillage.
Other things I got seem to be 1 cart pen that you put carts in (magneto) and 2 that you fill yourself.(Edge and nomad) Kinda weird for most people but as a grower that’s actually super convenient!
