Hey guys, I bought a UVA light bar that attaches to my HLG 550V2 Rspec. It’s a 30w light. I bought it because it claims to raise THC levels. I can’t find any information on this. I’ve found information on UVB, which states to use the last 2 weeks of flower. The UVA light I own says to it was designed to be used for a 12/12 cycle. (flower) I’m curious, does anyone know or have experience with UVA lighting? I know it can be used for 12/12 cycle but do I use it for the whole cycle or just the last few weeks of flower? Any information helps, thanks.

Is it made by HLG? Maybe the manufacturer can help. I have two California Lightworks UVB fixtures that like you said, I use during the last few weeks of flower, but I’ve never heard of adding UVA. I emailed California Lightworks a couple of times with questions about using my UVB fixtures and they replied with very helpful advice. Perhaps they might be able to help you, it’s worth an email to find out.

Read this. @Hellraiser added a 30w UVA bulb to the same lights. I don’t have experience, however read they do increase the THC levels. Maybe he can answer your question on schedule, looks like he added his on a few weeks into flower.

Hey Sk88, Yeah I just got the UVA add-on a little while ago and started using it immediately, my flowering tent was already starting week 4 of flowering and I’ll use it til harvest, I have it coming on/off with the 550 so running it about 12 hours a day (I don’t use traditional light schedules). Next flowering session I plan to use it from day 1 of flowering to compare results from just using it the last month or so. UVA is not as harsh to plants and people as UVB so I really don’t see a problem using it the whole flowering time.

I thought about adding a UVA and UVB light but they get extremely hot so I have never done it.
Just set up a proper exhaust, in my 3x3 tent with the HLG 550 and the UVA, the tent stays at 77-78F with my AC Infinity S6 on the 2nd lowest setting.

I live in Hell and this side of the house doesn’t have much cold air from the AC. Ae we average 115 to 130 degrees outside during the summer so when its hot outside, its extremely hot inside. What works for you definitely doesn’t for me.
I live in Hell as well with the same temps as you, the coolest room in my house is my master bedroom with the 2 grow tents, the exhaust from both tents draws in the cool air from the rest of the house. It’s almost like you’re proud not to have an exhaust LOL.
