So for the past few yrs. as I’ve got a handle on how all this works, I’ve done everything using a TS600 (90w).
Today I finally had an opportunity to make an upgrade
After quite a bit of “research” on options that would fit my budget (and my 2x2), I settled on:
Marshydro FC1500 EVO
Bar Style
Samsung 301H diodes
150w (Dimmable)
Scheduled to arrive Saturday although I may find myself having to wait until current cycle ends before I can rearrange because the tent is pretty full.
Either way it’s a done deal.
I’d imagine this will have a noticeable improvement in my grows compared to the TS600.
I’d be interested to hear any thoughts or experiences with these lights, and what impact growmies think this will have on my grows.
Im still uncertain if wattage is even an important measurement for a lights capabilities. I think thats why some growers just look for ppfd and dli. I have a 100 watt spiderfarm that puts out the respective ppfd for each stage of growing. I would get a photone app and if you have an iphone a diffuser to go with it. Just go off the measurements there are charts for ppfd levels throughout the grow. For instance a seedling only needs 100-300 ppfd.
Yeah I have an app for that.
Needed an upgrade regardless.
My TS600 does great if I’m running a single plant, but won’t support multiple plants enough to satisfy me. So… We’ll see how a FC1500 with Samsung 301h diodes does.
Yeah im not versed well enough to say what a good light is or not unfortunately but there should be a nice youtube video where someone thoroughly reviews it. Wasnt posting to be a dick just trying be helpful.
Yeah that’s what I’ve used for last few yrs as I’ve learned about how this stuff goes. It’s a good beginner or single plant light. I was simply ready for a change.
I’ve realized that lights are probably the most important factor in the whole indoor grow. I’ve seen the best quality and harvest improvements with light upgrades.
The light you got gives you 28 watts per square foot. You are right at the line for minimum recommend wattage of 30 per square foot. That OK since you can just bring the light a little closer to attain the proper dli/ppfd. Just be careful of heat damage being too close.
Mars hydro is a good brand and this light is using the best leds out there. Good upgrade.
Personally i use 12 Spider Farmer SF-1000 lights in a custom fixture i built. It allows me to tune my lights in specific areas and have different levels for each plant.
Your going to see an improvement in your harvest. Denser larger buds.
Thanks, that was good feedback
Improvement was the goal and I did my research and comparisons regarding the diodes too before making my decision. Sounds like budget & space considered, I made the right right choice
Larger denser buds was the goal.
So let me ask this, I guess the proper ppfd/dli depends on stage of growth ?
And regarding the TS600 light I’m replacing, how many watts/sq ft. is that light ?
Im sorry if i misunderstood. But at 150 watt and a 2x2 or 4 sq ft…it is 37.4 watt per sq foot. Im not being a smartass but was that your ?. Should serve a 2x2 just fine.
Well I was trying to figure out watts/ sq ft. for a Ts600 (90w) … So I could kinda figure out that difference between the the lights …
One being 90w and the other 150w.
I know I’ve improved the diodes because the TS600 uses Brideglaux and the FC1500 has Samsung 301h evo diodes.
I concur sir… ive harvested 18 plants off 1800watts not even turned up to the max. Ive learned that each round has their sweet spot and its usually not at max, especially growing organically.
@ChittyChittyBangin Im going to try a organic grow next, your style. Yes i pay attention to others lol. Coast of maine Stonington but with gaia green amendments. Ive kept clones of that girl for a while now. Im dying to see a true comparison of organic vs synthetic and coco. Im betting on organics. I will be starting a new journal in about a week. Will be a true and fair comparison. Just not simultaneously. Previous grows are documented so the info will be solid.
If youve never grown organically and are used to salt nutes, ect then get ready for a huge slow down. I like slow paced and more forgiving for example, i just spent a few days out of town for work. Watered the morning i left and didnt worry about a thing the whole time i was gone. Came back and checked on em amd everybody was happy. I dont check ppm or ph unless i see an issue, but usually takes a week or so to start showing improvements from issues. Organics fits me and my lifestyle. Make sure to tag me on your journal and ill help out in any way i can.
@ChittyChittyBangin Its been over 20 yrs since a organic style grow. I took a long break bc of life and legal reasons. Now its legal. So i know its slower, but oh well. Ive kept the mother alive organically and as practice. It is nice not dealing with runoff. But im only doing this purely for flavor and terpenes. Not for only weight. Time is of no matter, 2 weeks at most difference imo. Seems as long as you time it right, you will be ok. Im starting in five gallon fabric with the com. Three weeks later, will top dress. 1 month later flip if not to big. Thinking i may top dress at 3 week intervals and with added castings. Worst case i need to add second net to keep them down so i can flip and top dress appropriately. Excited for the change.
