This is my first year growing inside. Ive got my tent set up its a 4×4×8ft and im using a marshydro ts1000 150 watt. Im starting out with one plant (im going with gorillaskittles being i have more seeds of that one left than my other strains). Anyways, I dont wanna burn it up so I’m wondering if anyone can tell me how far in the seedling stage i need to have the
light from the plant and what percentage I should set it on as its dimmable. Also should i do the 24 hrs during the beginning stage as I’ve read? It seems a little extreme but once again this is my first year with this. While I’m at it are the tubes and filter necessary for anything aside from smell? I have the fan in there for air circulation but my tents in my room and I really dont care about smell as my house constantly smells (i dry in my closet). Thanks in advance for any help
Grab the Photone app and shoot for the following:
Seedlings: 300 PPFD minimum
Veg: 600 PPFD minimum
Flowering: 800 PPFD minimum
PPFD is a measure of lighting intensity/density. PPFD is an acronym for Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density.
Your 150w light will flower 1 plant.
This ^^^^
Thanx I’ll check it out. One plant is ultimately what im shooting for now. I have plants outside still to harvest. Im not gonna yield nearly what i should being i was over a month late starting so this will hopwfully help me sustain.
@Madams G’day mate surely you have read a grow bible, it show everything mate. seedling stage 3 weeks then first week of actual veg,is a good read mate i suggest read alot if your venturing into this or full on, for exapmle you asked about veg an dimmable, go read about how much light plant need in veg i have read for years an still read an test, vegies are different but i think ya on the right track mate.b4 i came on this site i read for months,.helped alot,an also study general plant biolgy like ph an ppm an stuff it helps man if ya serious with the ganga, rock on good question
Thanks! Yes i did finally download it and somethin called the harvest guide to help with harvesting. Its good stuff. Thanks! And happy days
So you know, that light will only flower a 2x2 space. For your 4x4 you will want 520 watts minimum. Optimum would be 40watt per sq ft or around 640 watt for a 4x4. Good veg ppfd is 450 to 500. Seedlings is 350. Flower 800 to 1000. Best of luck
To be clear, the amount of watts is determined by your footprint, not how many plants you have. One plant could require over 600w in a scrogg
You lost me at photo and train. What do u mean by that? I apologize im still learning.
Im not sure what you mean by footprint? So I’ve put one seed down. I do intend to get another lamp to add when i shoot for more plants i was onoy tryin to do one right now while im still learning the indoor methods. With outside plants the sun does all that part for ya.
I did stsrt a gorilla skittles and its sprout from the seed. Using the photone app i just checked it and its readin 400 ppfd (i believe thats what it is) is that too much or? My tent is in my bedroom and the fan is louder that i expected. So I’ve been cuttin it off a few hrs at night to sleep.
@Madams low stress training. Look up manifolding and low stress training on youtube. Tons of informative and step by step directions. You will increase your yield ten fold. By photos it mean that you control the life of the plant. You can veg a plant under a 18/6 light cycle and grow your plant out , then when youre ready to flower, you change your light cycle to 12/12. Take an average of 12 to 16 weeks for an average harvest time.
Thanks ill check those out. Yeah i was reading the lighting recommendation for different stages. Alot recommended 24 hrs lighting when its seedling. Its just sprouting this morning the first its poking out the dirt. Im hoping like 18 on and 6 off will be ok, or i may have to learn to get use to fan sound for a few wks.
I run my seedlings 24 hours up to two weeks or until i get a second set of true leaves, then transplant to final home.
With the photone its reading 400 ppfd. Should I set it up a little or turn the light back a tad to get it around 350? Ive not even messed with dimmer setting on the light really I’ve just adjusted the height from the plant
What i mean is how big the canopy is. 150watt good for a 2x2 space for flower
Yeah I’m realizing i got alot to learn about indoor growing. My ph levels are testing around 8 right now which is a little on the high side from what I’ve read. I really had no idea how much more went into indoor growing but i still think im gonna fall in love with it once i get the hang of it all. My outdoor harvest have been exceptionally good. So im eager to see what comes of this
My 4x4 has a footprint of 16sq ft.
This one plant occupies more than half the available canopy. (second plant back corner, but insignificant competition for space, in this picture.
Mother Nature andme scrogged her. One month flipped and introduced to tent 12/12
Needs 600 watts from HLG or better.
Back corner plant at six more weeks, moved forward and replace with new back corner clone.
150/4=40/sq ft. Maybe, but who’s LED light?
Canopy is everything above.
Usually, means Above ground, growth to top bud under light height.
Got any still growing?
Learned re-veging this year, love the tool.
Try it, you’ll like it, IMO
