Hey. So I just got a tent 2x2 and the fan I ordered with it is kinda beastly, rather loud. The raiting is 189 cmfs. I’m basically wondering what type of fans everyone uses n if having a tent just means having to deal with loud fans lol
I have a 4x4x7 tent and use a 440cfm exhaust fan made by Ventech. I purchased a whole kit that came with a carbon filter exhaust fan and variable speed controller.
My exhaust fan isn’t too noisy. I mounted it by using bungle chords and it help cut down on the vibrations and noise. Mine is mounted outside the tent.
Some people mount theirs inside the tent to help eliminate noise but you don’t have a very big tent so you might be limited to where you can mount it.
I actually have noticed lately that the bearings in the exhaust fan seem to be getting noisier map I’m hoping I can grease it or hit it with some silicone spray or something.
Ya I more or less thing I need to keep it out side my tent. I haven’t gotten to fully set the tent up I’ve been so busy with work. I think when I put the carbon filter on it it might quite it some. I kinda just plugged the fan in today before going to work to see what it can do lol
Are use bungee cords have my carbon filter inside the tent running ductwork out the 10 into the fan that is hanging by bungee cords from the ceiling since it’s not setting on anything it’s not near as loud I have three of the same set up @Jmesser80 has I have 2 here one on its way
Can I see a pic of how you guys have it rigged up?
@Rugar89 post a pic of yours.
Mine is also mounted inside but by next grow I’m moving exhaust outside leaving carbon filter due to ability to raise lights more. Measured tallest I can get with lights at correct level and I will have to LST more before then.
Will my girls naturally confirm to LAST and can I remove ties at some point?
I don’t have any pics of my setup on my phone. I’ll try and remember to snap a pic when I get home from work for you.
I ended up using a air exchanger/filter i found for sale. Sometimes if you improvise it works out to be more cost effective. I only paid 200 for unit and it has a 1100cfm rating. Additionally its ultra quiet. Ive seen them for sale before on craigslist from like office buildings
Will get you some pics soon
I’ve had my eye on the cloudline from ac infinity. They should be available soon, but worth having a look at for anyone in the market for a fan. They are a little pricey, but supposedly quiet, efficient, and come with an automated temp controller.
2x2x8 gives you 38 square feet
I personally would use a 100 cfm for exhaust and intake I would run at 60-80 cfm to keep tent in neg pressure
With a 100 cfm fan you’d exchange the air in tent about 2.5 times every min good for heat removal but may be a problem to keep humidity in tent depending on season wither mostly
For that I just recycle my air instead of exhausting it outdoors
But all that’s not what you asked
I also use inline fans carbon filters over sizing exhaust can create issues as well as undersizing
Them
Just my professional opinion @Tonyb
Right on @Countryboyjvd1971. That’s where a speed controller comes in handy @Tonyb
@Countryboyjvd1971 if I remember correctly you work in the HVAC field.
If so I was wondering I have a ventech exhaust fan and have been noticing the bearings in the fan are starting to make some noise. Do you know if it is possible to lube them up?
Your memory serves you well It’s a in line probably not maybe if you get a oiler bottle has a long tube that telescopes out but most are Greeseless or oilless bearingshow old if under a year is call mfg and complain
I will when I get home this evening.
So basically you are saying I should get n intake that’s 100 cfm? I was pissed at first because when I made the order I apparently forgot to add an exhaust fan to my cart. Now I’m kinda glad cuz this one does seem a bit too beastly. Anyone have any recommendations of fans for a 2x2x5 ft tent?
I can’t seem to find any on Amazon that are in the 80-100 cmf range
It is a ventech exhaust fan. I haven’t really looked at it since I hung it up. I’ll have to take it down and take a look. Was hoping I could shoot some silicone in there are something to reduce the noise. It isn’t real loud but definitely getting noisier than it was to start.
Thanks for the info
