Two Gorillas & Five Ladies: Grow #5

Hello again and welcome to my fifth grow. I didn’t create a journal on #4 since it started out so bad that it prompted me to start the germination success topic. It took me 3 attempts to get four seeds to germinate and the two GDP plants turned yellow after their first feeding of half strength Jacks. It got me thinking.

So this grow, I’m dialing it back. The reason being is I need to focus in on each stage of the process….ex: pay closer attention…to each step. From germination, to propagating the seedlings, to transplanting, to administering nutrients and when, WHAT amendments to use, how to mix the nutrients, low stress training (they’re all autos), their feeding schedule….the whole nine yards! I think I moved too quickly after my first two grows that yielded over six ounces of kick ass White Widow weed from each plant. I went from crawling to running, not stopping long enough to ‘walk’. My grows have still been good, but I think they could have been better.

Tents: Gorilla 2x4…(1) Shorty & (1) Standard. Started plants out in my 2x2x4 Nursery Tent
Lights: (2) HLG 260XL R-Spec, Shorty also has an HLG UVA light. Nursery: HLG 135 R-Spec
Both tents have 6" fans with charcoal filters and a 6" bottom radial fan, both w/controllers
Seeds: Banana Kush, Blue Dream, Sour Diesel…all autos, all from ILGM
Nutrients: Sour Diesel & Blue Dream…Jacks 3-2-1 with Recharge & Silica
Banana Kush: ILGM nutrients (gave me great results in my first two grows) w/Fish!t.

I started this grow in June…the Banana Kushes (in 5gal pots) were planted in Solo cups on June 19th & 24th. The Sour Diesel & Blue Dreams (in 3 gal pots) were planted in Solo cups on July 5th. Both were transplanted into their final pots 14-18 days after the Solo cup plant. I still have two Blue Dream girls that just won’t grow…one is from July 4th and the other is from July 18th. Gotta be the genetics since I also had three seeds not germinate at all.

First off, I think the last bag of Happy Frog I bought was a hotter mix than normal and that caused the two GDP girls to stress, yellow & die. I started out the two Banana Kush girls in the same 80/20 Happy Frog & perlite mix but only gave them water for the first 3 weeks…and they took off like rockets. I did their LST and they snapped right back…

I still haven’t done any trimming, just leaf tucking…but eventually I’ll have to do some strategic trimming in hopes of not stressing them out. I think I’ve done that in the past.

The two Sour Diesel and one Blue Dream were transplanted yesterday and will get water only for the next two to three weeks or so.

I’m still holding out hope that one of the other two Blue Dream girls starts to take off in their Solo cup…but I’m not holding my breath.

You got it growing on Bro, growing a few Sour D autos myself. That sux on the Blue Dreams. I’ll be lurking in the background and if you stop by my post, I’ll take advice and suggestions. I like checking out post and picking up new ideas. MeEasy turned me on to the 6/2 light schedule and I’m really seeing a difference in these autos and how fast their growing

I felt like there was a lot of inconsistencies with ff soils too. Pretty much buy roots organics original now.

I’m assuming it’s still amended soil? If so, how long til you start adding nutes to your feed schedule for that soil. I’ve used FFOF and FFHF…like both, but holy hot out the bag. Like they say, she’s a burner.

Yesterday was watering day. The two Banana Kush received 2/3 tsp of the ILGM Growtime with 3ml of Fish!t and are growing very nicely….so far my experiment of dialing stuff back is working. Next feeding I’ll start the silica now that the LST has taken place and they look ready to harden a bit.

The little Blue Dream seedling seems to be taking hold….the other one finally died.

The two Sour Diesel and (middle) Blue Dream received one liter of water with 4 ml of Fishsh!t and seem to be happy. I dialed the light back further to 100 watts in hope of getting some stretch…they’re very squatty, but healthy.

So far, so good.

Sucks to hear about the blue dream! Also my last bag of happy frog was over 5000 ppm at 4.7 pH. So it’s more than possible that your bag was bad.

Same here on the Happy Frog, just not that high. 4.2 EC around 2000 plus on the PPMs at week 2 with run off and a quick slurry test

I used new happy frog this time I added my dry amendments and I couldn’t get seeds to start I couldn’t figure it out I finally got enough to fill two tents but they’re like kids all different ages a stairstep of plants my tent (no disrespect) looks like a first timer planted it lol
