Welcome to my grow. This is grow number 5 for me so follow along if you are also a beginner and if you are a veteran do not be afraid to chime in.
This is a 5 gallon DWC setup featuring strain " 9lb Hammer", which is a cross between Gooberry, Hells OG and Jack the Ripper ; an 80/20 hybrid favoring indica.
I purchased this as a clone from my local grow supply shop and initially she was in rockwool, soil and a solo cup. As soon as i got her home the eggs began to hatch.
This will be my 2nd DWC grow and a strong motivator for the soil to hydro switch was pests; so this was unacceptable. I treated her at lights out with Humbodlt bug shield and the next day washed her roots in water phd at 5.8 to remove soil material from her structure.
She was then transplanted into the 5 gallon DWC in a 4" net pot , supported with hydroton and a tie down to keep her upright as she recovered and established.
Her light schedule is 18/6 under a viparspectra v600W set to veg so the color temp is 6500+. I did initially have her under and VS xs1500 pro, but i struggled to get her lighting correct. As such i went back to the light i have used for previous grows and she responded beautifully.
Within a week she was on the mend. But still something was not right. After discussing nutes and lighting with @Low and @OGIncognito ad well as others such as @RightAway @Autos-only and @MartyMarajuanaseed , it came to my attention that DWC, like other soil less mixtures may be eligible to receive consistent and high ppm feeding from start to finish. So i increased from about 350ppm to 600 with an EC of 1.2.
That , coupled with success in the lighting cured several issues within hours. Those issues were no lateral root branching, tacoing leaves, stunted growth and sagging of the plant material.
Now with the light correct she perked up, began photosynthesizing, taking up nutes ( now available in larger amounts ) and putting on size.
I forgot to mention that upon her bounce back from transplanting i supercropped her at the height i wanted and then trimmed away lower growth. She has been bent down today and when she recovers i will initiate the flower cycle.
This grow is not intended to produce massive amounts of cannabis. My previous grow was watermelon by RQS and yielded 1/4 pound. This grow is to recognize and work through mistakes i am prone to making and learn more about the subtle communications these plants converse with us by so that i can produce monster yields , quality product and avoid pitfalls and delays in future pursuits.
She stays at or around:
79 -81 F
65 -73 Res Temp
50 Rh ( im battling dry weather )
5.7 - 6.3 Ph
600ppm ( will increase at end of week )
EC 1.2 ( will subsequently increase )
18/6 at veg 6500k+
She is being fed Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow A and B .
