Troubleshoot QB light

So I am having some trouble with one of my QB boards. It keeps flickering off and on. I’m afraid it might make some plants herm on me.

My light is 2 qb 288 boards with a hlg-240h-c2100a driver. I have replaced the connectors already and still has same problem.
Is there a way to troubleshoot to find out if it is driver, wires or plug in? Or maybe the board itself?

One of the boards flickers and the other doesn’t? Do you have any clear pictures of wiring?

The whole board goes dark for a hot second every min or 2. I’m not using it right now because my flower room all died a month ago from a venting mishap. Lost 9 plants unfortunately. I will be needing it here soon thou. I dont actually have the cord put back on right now.

The wires to the boards are secure. When I put the plug in together it works for awhile then starts flickering again. Could it be just driver gone bad?. I’ve had other 3 light for almost a year longer

Your wiring looks correct. I would double check that you have good connections at your boards. Sometimes if you don’t strip enough insulation off the connectors can clamp on the insulation instead of bare wire.

I also noticed it appears you ran driver pigtail straight to boards. Those will just barely fit without damaging connectors, so take a good look at those

All my boards are ran exactly the same. The driver wires were tight fits and I made sure to be extra careful when I did them before. I looked them over just now. Looks the same as it always has, wire can be seen just outside housing on light. This light ran for a good 9 months before it started flickering. I do remember the driver being a bit hotter then others when they were in full use. Is there a way to check driver?

You can check voltage and current, but you would have to do so when its misbehaving. The issue is that its difficult to determine the difference between a malfunction and driver going into protection mode.

I acknowledge they appeared wired correctly in previous post. Doesn’t mean something didn’t get damaged, become loose, or any number of other things. I would inspect everything closely.

Have you tried flipping the boards 180* and rewire using the bottom connectors?

I’ll rewire it and see how it goes.

Or, swap the ballast with another one as a diagnostic step.

I’ve had led drivers go bad. They end up blinking the light on/off in 1/2 second intervals.

Curious if you could tell me if the drivers are needing to be grounded to the heatsink?

Depends on mounting application. Driver cases are grounded, but if you have remote driver probably wouldn’t be a bad idea.
