Hi there, these are my white widow photo’s at week 7 today. 2 Gallon pots for the whole grow so im not expecting amazing results, but thats ok it takes me 6 weeks to smoke an O. I’d like to veg 2 more weeks if possible but might have to flip next weekend because i can only allow 1 more foot of growth total and im expecting a 8 inch stretch approximately. Im only gonna use one trellis so should i wait until i flip the lights to install it or do it now to press that middle one down? Its a good 2-3 inches taller than the side plants. Thanks in advance
If you’re dealing with height constraints I would trellis now and weave the plant tops throughout the net till you’re about 3/4 full then flip to flower. Continue to tuck branches as needed in the net
Beautiful plants by the way.
Hey there @Solidgold91 ,
I’m gonna tell you that expecting 8 inches of stretch is just not reasonable. More like 2 foot of stretch. As Jake says, start bending them down now. Also I suggest flipping them now too.
How tall is your tent? I can fill a 3x4 tent that is 80" tall with two plants.
Agree with @Jake3 , your plants look very healthy.
I can get my light up to 59 inches and we are at 27 right now, from the floor. So hoping my tops dont get closer than 16 inches to the light that means i have 16 inches more of growth i can allow, i did my math wrong the first time. Light is a sf-2000.
So this is my 1st grow in a tent…i grew one of these seeds in a closet under a cheap Amazon tri pod light and it only stretched like 6 inches. So you are suggesting that these will stretch alot more because of the better growing environment?
In my experience, most cultivars will stretch to about double their size when healthy and grow room environments are ideal. I’ve had some that literally triple in size. I’ve been out of the loop on newer information for about a year or 2 but if I remember correctly, common trellis net training is to tuck branches till about 2/3-3/4 of the net is full then flip to flower so the remainder of the net can be filled during the 1st half of pre flower stretching and the tops can extend slightly above the net during the last part of the stretch. If anything gets too tall after that you can super rip those tops to protect them from getting too close to your lights. Alternatively keeping notes on the cultivars you’re growing right now can help you in future grows of the same and or similar genetics.
Well sounds like i better get to work with my scrog net. I will train thoughout the week, do some trimming on Thursday and flip next weekend. Thank you guys for assistance.
That’s a good light. The closer you can keep it to the plants the less they will stretch. They are still gonna stretch a lot though. But 8 inches is a lot to hope for. As stated at least double. Some plants stretch less than others even among the same strains. But using LST or even super cropping which is severely bending the stems can help. I know you will be ok. Its fun to figure out the grow along the way. The longer you let them veg the more space you will need to deal with the stretch.
