I have 4 plants 9 weeks old that had the light cycle changed from 18/6 to 12/12 four days ago. My concern is that 2 are in 7 gal cloth pots and the largest and oldest (by a week) and smallest are in 5 gal pots.
I would like to transplant the larger/older girl into a 7 gal. Im concerned about the top growth becomig lighter green than the othsr 3 plants. I am thinking giving her an extra 3" of living soil “Purple Cow” for the roots to extend into. I also use Cal/Mag at 1.5ml per gal because i use purified water mixed with bottled water w/ minerals added for taste.
The 1st image is the plant in question, lighter green. Thee other 2 pics are in 7 gal and darker healthier looking. Looking for advice…these are a cross between “Stoopid Fruits” and “Pineapple Express”

Only thing I’m seeing is rapid growth. They will start light green and darken as the new growth gets older.

Thanks… The lack of Calcium, etc from using 50% 0 ppm & 50% 220ppm from water station was the primary cause of the light green, but on 3 other plants…this one was Dark and. I had transplanted 1st into 5 gal or above pots.
I have tomato cage 18" grates at 24" and the grow bags (both 5 and 7 gal fit almost the same except for height. I was going to cut the bottom from the 5 gal and after adding 2 gal of “Purple Cow” i figured the roots would grow into the fresh soil as nutrients faid at 2-3 months.
If i am careful not to disturb the roots and remove as much of the 5 gal bag as possible but primarily the bottom is safest. I have support bars in the corner straps of current bag and zip tied to milk crate corner.
The 7 gal has almost 3" over 5 gal., but dont want to hurt my girl.

I would think she will catch up. You can put a booster under to get to same height. It woyld be a shame to stress her too much.

I think it will be fine, either way. If you do decide to “transplant”, no need to cut the bottom, or remove the current pot, if you look at it, probably has roots growing through it already. Just stack it into the other pot.
I don’t think you have to worry. Since you are you could top dress with some organic fertilizer, like a flower time blend, to stay ahead of things, and water it in with something fish emulsion, for a microbial boost.
Hit it with the microbes once a week, pretty soon you’ll be worried if the fertilizer you gave was too much.
Thanks much, i was not aware that the roots could grow through the cloth pot bottoms. I still might just cut the very bottom off. I need to cut the corner straps that the “cage” rods are going through. I use “Recharge” so she should have healthy microbe colonies built but i always increase the amount during transplants.
I would like to keep her in the 5 gal and avoid transplant if it’s not causing root bound. I can top dress with a mix of Purple Cow, Worm Castings, and i also use the organic CRF line from “Beanstalk”. (I planned to use this same mixture in the bottom if i transplant).
Main concern is a healthy plant, not size or trying to squeeze a little more yield. My first grow “Grow Diaries” I used same techniques “that worked, learned by mistakes” but plants are much healthier this time. This was the “Stoopid Fruits” side of current grow. Rouge male pollinated Pineapple Exp Auto.
Thanks, but the issue is to give the roots more room to grow as they have reached the bottom of the 5 gal cloth bag. Trying to decide if i should cut the bottom of the 5 gal bag and put the bag inti a 7 gal with 3" of organic soil in the bottom so the roots can spread out and not become root bound.
