How do I know when she is ready to be transplanted out of this 1 gallon cloth bag?Typically I wait till I can see the roots with the solo cup. Can’t do that in this case. I wish I wouldn’t have started it in this 1 gallon bag, but hindsight is 20/20. She has been above soil for 4 weeks.
Ready to transplant.
Thank you! Appreciate it
A couple of suggestions when you do transplant.
I like to set the pot on top of a smaller plastic pot. I use a 6" round nursery pot. Then carefully roll the sides of the top pot down over the pot below it. Another thing is for the soil to be damp to moist. At least you don’t want it real dry. It holds together better when moist.
I like 1 gallon transplanters. They have Velcro closure on the side and are so easy to use.
Time to put this one in its final pot
Undo the Velcro and roll down the side as described above.
Thank you! I did see the velcro pots. Very good idea.
The roots will grow out of fabric pots. I’ve taken to popping the pot on to or into another pot if I decide I need more room.
Do you cut the bottom out of the smaller bag? Or just let it grow through?
