Training a Blue Dream Auto

She’s about 4 weeks from seed. I fimmed the top last weekend. My question is, should I use some clips and string to tie the side branches down to the side of the bag? It’s in a 3 gallon bag growing in a 50/50 mix of bagged top soil and MiracleGro ( flame away lol).

We don’t flame people here. MG isn’t generally a good idea for a couple of reasons, but if the plant is healthy and you can control the pH, then go with it.

I see no reason to do any training at all, as there is plenty of room in the plant for airflow and light to get around. A plant wants to grow up. Let her do her thing.

Using LST is up to you. I typically let the plant go after topping around node 5 or 6. I remove the two lowest branches as they usually don’t make a lot. Then I feed the branches along a scrog net to keep then somewhat even.
Now there are several techniques others use to keep the plant under control. Tie it down from an early age to spread it out makes for a wide level canopy. Whatever you do just try to fill your grow space with a level plant so your buds all get about the same amount of light.

Thanks, I have a SCROG net I can use. I did an outdoor grow last summer, 4 Tropicana Cookies photo and 2 Blue Dream autos. I just let them grow and used tomato cages for support. This is a learning experience for me and I’m just trying different things.

When growing outside there is no difference in light level from top to bottom. Sunlight is the same strength all over the plant. But inside under a light there can be a big difference when the top is 20 inches from the light and the bottom is 36 inches away. So keeping it a level canopy is what you try to do. Within reason. Buds down low will get food from above as most nutrients are mobile and move around in the plant. My current plant has some super frosty buds in almost total shade. Light doesn’t have to hit a flower to make it grow. As long as you give the plant as much light surface as possible the rest will grow too.
