First time with an auto (Blue Dream). About a week ago (end of week 3) I pinched the main stem and bent it over for LST. It’s doing great, but it the foliage is so thick and dense. The fan leaves seem huge (as compared to my previous grow with Photo’s). The smaller side stems are in shade due to the large fan leaves. I have a couple fans in the tent circulating air but have seen moisture where leaves have been touching.
My question is: should I remove a few fan leaves to open it up and allow more air and light to get to the smaller side stems, OR leave it alone and the side stems will lengthen and extend out of this tight mass of foliage?
Thanks.
Looks early to defoliate to me! I dont know your set up, but if you’re indoors id recommend possibly sliiiightly lowering light intensity and maybe raising the distance to allow some stretching and start to work on some LST
It will stretch as it grows i would let it grow @CaptainTrips happy growing my friend
@CaptainTrips Have heart. You’ll get there. I remember this damn shrubbery I was growing on my first grow lmao
You got this!
Blue dream Auto is a beast.
I’ve grown this strain several times. @CaptainTrips
I would pinch anything that shading a site.
Open the center up. She will respond. This strain is a beginner’s dream. Not saying you are, but it is very forgiving.
If it were mine I would leave it as is. You have a ways to go before you should need to clear any thing. just my 02. My BD autos were on the smaller side. Little 5 oz plants. Once these hit the stretch. Those leaves will all stretch out. @Woodrow any chance you may have a link to your BDs. I have done 3 DB autos and all were on the smaller side

Thanks TNP. I’m gonna let it grow for a few more days to see if the smaller side branches get to where they have more light and I can work with them for LST. I am taking your suggestion to lower the light intensity a little to encourage stretching. Thanks.
Let It Grow! Thanks.
Hey everyone first time grower. I also have some blue dream autos going, planted 5 and in a few days after planting in soil they started to sprout up. Had 4 come up in a matter of 2-3 days. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure I overwatered them and the fifth one has not sprouted after a week of the others coming up. I let them dry out for a few days and it seems like the first one to sprout is growing again. I’m just worried the last one isn’t going to come up now having been overwatered. Is there a chance it will recover and sprout?
It may. But even if you did everything right sometimes seeds are just duds.
They are a natural product and there is no way that by looking at them you can tell if they are good or not.
I just planted 5 seeds and 4 sprouted.
Just the way it goes.
If its not up after about 10 days just pull it out of the dirt and see if it ever cracked.
If its ILGM stock you can contact them.
And Welcome to the forum.
I saw they all cracked open when I soaked them in water. Put them right into ffof soil in a 5 gallon fabric pot. I feel like I may have drowned the thing (I was watering them once or twice a day which I know now is WAY too much for a seedling.) just anxious to have a successful grow! I said the same thing, if it doesn’t come up in another week or so I’m calling it a lost cause at that point
I killed a bunch with too much love (water)
Now once I soak them 24hrs I plant them in Moist soil and leave them alone.
My test is to grab a handful of soil and squeeze it. If it drips its too wet.
When you soak a seed it starts the grow process. It wont stop now that its started. So watering again is 100% unnecessary. As long as the soil is not bine dry the plant will be fine.
That makes sense. I was spraying them at first and they sprouted with no problem. Made the mistake of actually watering them too soon, should’ve stayed with what I was doing! I guess you live and learn
I just did a test where I soaked a seed 24 hrs and then planted it in a solo cup with moist soil. I squeezed out as much water as I could before planting. I let it alone until is nearly died. It took 3 weeks to get to that point. So no water for 21 days.
Before
Kept dome on for 3 days
Yeah I’ve been doing a lot of research and I’ve found that they do like a dry period after watering. Just have to be patient with them! And these are from ILGM, got 20 blue dreams for a deal one of my favorite strains but yeah gonna go back to spraying with water bottle until they have more leaves and branches.
I’ll post some pics shortly I think they look better than they did. The leaves were starting to curl now they are straight out again. I’m just concerned about the stem being weak. Looks very fragile right now
