Newbie grower here. What leads you to think it’s overwatered? Just trying to learn.
My plants were starting to curl down in a 2x4 grow tent. We tried EVERYTHING. Adjusting/measuring pH, light, water, nutes…nothing helped. We added a small heater and the problem resolved itself within a couple of hours. We determined that the girls just didn’t like the cold snap we were going through. Who’da thunk it! Sometimes the answer is simple.
Honestly, 9 times out of 10, if a new grower is having issues with a small plant, curling leaves, slow growth, etc, the cause is usually overwatering. Even when you are fully aware of the pitfalls of it, it’s still really easy to do. Unless you can recognize a true deficiency, I think treating for overwatering is always a good place to start.
It definitely wasn’t underwatering. And my moisture meter said it wasn’t overwatering. It resolved within a couple of hours with increased temperature.
I’ve read a few articles on cold stress and leaf curling and I am convinced. We had a super cold snap. I didn’t think it would matter so much, but that’s exactly when it happened. My tent is adjacent to a north-facing (cold side of the house) window. When the grow light went out at night, it got pretty cold. Outdoor temps were in the single digits and I think the sudden drop in temps was the stressor. Every other number on every meter was dead on.
My germinated seeds went into the ground on December 31, by the way. FF Happy Frog, no additives. ILGM Bruce Banner, GSC, and GG autoflowers. Used distilled water only, checking/adjusting pH as needed.
BB always lagged behind a little in size, but is quickly catching up! Just trying to be diligent. Asking questions and doing a lot of research and reading! Thanks for the help!
Nighttime outdoor temps were in the single digits. Usual tent temperature was around 72-75 degrees during the day, but went down below 60 at night for two nights. Heater is now keeping tent around 75 degrees. Also controlling humidity with a reptile fogger. Staying around 50% in flowering. Was around 60% during veg.
What kind of heater did you use? My tent is 67 F without a heater. My current heater is too big, looking for something small and used by other tent growers
This is what we got. Small and inexpensive, but effective.
My setup: We have a 9x11 square foot master bathroom with a separate shower and tub. We put a 3/4 inch piece of plywood over the tub, which is where our 2x4x78" grow tent is. (We only use the shower anyway, so it was a good temporary solution. Not like we’re going around stinky. LOL) There’s a window behind the tent. We keep the house rather cold at night, so the bathroom was dropping significantly after dark and after the grow light went out. The small heater sits on the side of the vanity and supplements the regular heat very well. We also have a reptile fogger in the tent to control humidity.
Good idea, I have bought something very similar off Amazon. I may have to end up heating the room if heating the tent keeps being an issue. I am hoping a small ceramic will do the job, cheaper than heating the room
The potting soil does not drain well, so I have over watered a few times and then I switched from a SF-2000 for lighting to a LEC 315 and I think I crushed it with too much light and heat. All that said, the plant is just starting it’s 6th week. I will get something from it and that’s better than nothing! Lol

The top two pics are the same plant from my first post. I thought I had wrecked it with too much light and heat. Watched several YouTube videos last night and found that this seed has some consistency issues from plant to plant. What happed happens to these sometimes, or so I’m going to tell myself, otherwise it’s my fault!
