I decided I wanted to try cloning an auto in spite of the pro/con I’ve read, heard and seen. In short this is the best I’ve got besides one auto plant that reached about 3ft and spindly but , never flowered inspite of growing for 104 days lol. This clone is from an Auto Kush. I’ll get a fat doobie out of it and that’s it. From time of cutting to this picture was a total of 84 Days ! I used a powdered rooting dip and enhanced the soak water with kelp and vitamin B. This was a lower branch that wa removed at start of flowering so that may or may not have something to do with its stunted growth. However every Auto I’ve successfully rooted turned out worse or about the same. It’s not worth the effort to me with the technique I’m using. I’ve tried the gel dip as well with same results. I’ve managed to get 1 of 10 cuttings to root with Autos. I’ve not tried a photo yet but going to this grow with a Gelato and GreenC. What’s everyone else’s experience with Auto cloning ? I’ve read some mixed thoughts and successes.
I accidentally broke a stem, apx what you are holding, I put the broken stem in Rooting Powder and stuck it in the same soil as the mother plant; it took ok, but remained the same size throughout its life cycle…but the buds it made were fat and juicy and produced fabulous a smoke…also it made me feel better for being a klutz in the first place.
ps the leaves when cured had an interesting ‘day smoke’ effect
This one the same , great smoke, very little of it lol but darn good. Is that the only auto you’ve tried to clone ?
When you take a clone it is the same age as the mother plant , with autos they are designed to finish at a certain age so the branches you cut off just finish the cycle. if the plant doesn’t auto flower like the one you said went 104 days with no flowers you can successfully take clones because the plant is not going to finish based solely on time so it is more like a photo strain
Hey there ! thanks for your reply bro. It was auto clone that went 104 days after i successfully rooted it and never flowered. It’s mother was an auto in her 2nd week of flower. I didn’t try a 12/12 on it. I figure if I have to
switch to 12/12 to get my autos to flower I’ve not only wasted money but I’ll lose yield and potency I’d just as soon pull them up and get an auto that flowers on a 18-24 light schedule. No light schedule would’ve helped the little P though lol
Well if you are taking clones anyway why not just do a photo strain ,a photo from clone shouldn’t take any more time than a auto from seed. If your auto clone just keep flowering you are not gaining anything without vegetative growth which will take as much time as vegetative growth of a photo.not to mention you would be running your lights six hours less
so far, although I will be cloning Afghani and Hindu Kush Autos come the springtime grow.
this is a ILGM White Widow Auto clone i took 2 clones @ about 21 days i think her twin clone i put with a Lucky Charms male and now have Lucky Widow seeds like a 1000 the clone in pic gave 48 grams A grade bud and 20 or so in small and trim i know i just got lucky but still you never know and yes this is documented in my journal
happy grow’n yall jimmie o ya im doing it again now too
sometimes Mother Nature jus finds a way
How long did it take to get to harvest from the cutting?
let me go back and see the harvested clone i think was 114 from the mom popin soil days and yes that is about the time a photo takes
so i think if you only grow autos why not try and surely nuthing wrong with photos they are fun as autos are
What I wanted to do was experiment and see for myself if it was possible and productive enough to put extra effort and extra room in my plans for future grows and, as of now, based solely on my personal experience with cloning autos I’m not planning to do anymore in the new future. I think it may be worth it to clone an auto that normally veg’s for 4-6 wks if you get a branch early before flower, leaving time for some vegetative growth. I have cloned a couple photos but having several hundred seeds of varying strains etc I haven’t felt the need yet. Green grass and high tides bro
84 days from cutting to harvest. It was very slooooooow lol. It began to show roots in 8 days from cuttting
That’s a great looking auto clone and a good job of getting it there
1000 seeds, man…
I think I got more off one plant lol been sending them to peeps @OldSchoolGrower had some sprout already
I feel like taking my tent up to Best buy and camping out all night for Blackfriday,
About to start my first grow in 20 years.
Back then, I primarily worked in patches outside. “wasn’t so legal back then”, I did grow a couple indoors, but this time due to my living situation I am putting together the gear now, getting ready for my first grow.
In the name of science!
Don’t be stingy.
All the gotta do is hit me up some how lol
