My 1st grow. Growing 2 plants. This one is, IMO, hanging onto life. Just barely.
Planted in Jan 2024. About 14-15 weeks ago. Both plants are the same age. Planted same day. Other plant is Cinderella.
This one is Mottz strain, autoflower.
Plant has basically stopped growing. It’s about 6 inches tall. Stem is skinny like a twig. Hasn’t grown in weeks, hasn’t died either. Had a few new leaves a week or two ago, which turned purple / black and dry /crispy like the rest of them. No leaves have fallen off, at all.
Anyone seen anything like this? I can’t find a picture online to even remotely match its symptoms. And can’t find any info online that would turn leaves purple black.
Stunted.
I can give more info if you want. But, just wondering if anyone’s seen a plant looking like this and would it could be (don’t want this to happen again next grow)
Thanks! (I’ll be asking about my other plant another time )
Well my friend those plants are both past time to harvest, and I am sorry your grow turned out the way it did, there could be many reasons for the stunted growth. Improper watering, not proper lighting, etc. Autos will go into flower too soon if the plant is stressed out and they will stop growing when they have two weeks into flower which was a long time ago looks like you are using a potting mix of some sort, easy to burn a small seedling if allowing the soil to dry out too much between waterings, those pots are difficult to water to run off, need bigger trays to collect the excess water. I will follow along with your posts here anytime it is late and I will be going to bed soon but I will check with you tomorrow my friend @Paradise have a good night
I knew they were taking forever to grow buds, but kept coming across threads of people saying "just wait, they’ll flower when they’re ready’ … stuff like that.
So I waited. And kept up growing them (we’ll, one of them lol)
Um okay, so I’ll forget the teeny guy. He’s a goner. But the big healthy one never grew any buds.
Could light stress be a reason for that?
(I had my lights much too close (15 inches or so) for many weeks not realizing). LED, 450 watt equivalent. One light for both plants.
By the time I realized they were too close the leaves on both plants were purple / black. But then I would research light stress and the leaves are supposed to lighten, turn yellow. So it took me a long time to realize to back away the lights.
Auto flowers need a great start Growmie…day 1 above ground through pre-flower are extremely critical and need the environmental, nutrients and lighting dialed in and on point for a successful run
Autos can be difficult to grow as already stated. I’m a fairly accomplished grower, and tried another auto flower. This one is 4 weeks tomorrow from breaking ground, and imo should be way bigger. This will be my last auto.
My best guess is watering properly, your right lighter color is usually a light excess, purple and black color is normal of some weed, the biggest plant looks like it was a mutation and didn’t form good bud structure, I have seen this mutation before and probably not your fault, again maybe stress? I agree with the others that autos are harder to grow as they flower at the least stress For a new grower feminized photo take mistakes in stride, only flowering when switched to 12/12. Watering problems are most prevalent in soil grows and can cause devastating effects. I will tag you in my current grow, I don’t know everything but I grow happy healthy plants and would like to help. This forum is a very good place to learn but search the people who give you advice, see if they are successful growers. I invite anyone to see. You can either ask me here or holler at me in my thread. Here’s my closet today and the smaller girl is a auto but she is a week younger than the others
I have grown one auto, started with two but one was some kind of mutant. According to others on this site I was very successful with her but I must have nailed everything from the start which is unusual for my bro-science way of growing. I’ve gone back to photos, they are much more forgiving and you have way more control of them IMO. Good luck in the future.
See below…only 14 days above ground and starting to flower.
5 pack of purple lemonade auto - 3/3 are in flower and 2 were gnarley sprouts and got culled. These certainly won’t get a space in my tents. Total waste of $ IMHO.
OK, I’ve come to terms now that this tiny plant is … dead.
I can’t believe I killed it when I tried so hard. Oh well. I’ll start a new grow in a week or two. Just kind of unreal. I thought this would be so easy.
@Paradise give photos a go… as far as autos, ive got a few going now… very kareny i havent grown autos in a while so this is another go with em. I usually grow photos.
Lol that’s a great way to describe them for sure. I’ve really tried, but i honestly just dont see or understand the value proposition of autos. For me, photo’s continue to outperform autos in every metric…including ease of growth.
I think from here on out I’ll only ever pop autos if i get them as freebies.
There’s nothing wrong with auto’s. You just can’t apply photo techniques to’m.
Ya have to move faster and be more vigilant, but dang they “put out” quick.
I got two questions for you. Question one what lights are those question two the second picture is that just one plant autoflowers? Everything looks awesomeness
The guy who originally posted this and his two plants he showed pictures of. The first one looks like a bug that we would get and just stick in the ground and take a picture. Imagine having little bud plants like that if it grows within 21 days that would be awesome you know like 1 g little buds like strawberries. That is incredible it’s still to me looks like someone just stuck bud in some mulch.
Now on the second one it looks like a fungus marijuana plant that is all.
And by no means am I a perfect grower at all but I definitely pay attention on what’s going on. By the time my 16 weeks is up on growing autoflowers cleaning pruning flushing feeding checking pH 24/7 I probably have an hour a day including the prep from seed to harvest. So that’s over 100 hours. I tell everybody everybody does different things with their time off I used to waste a lot of time playing video games a lot. When I am growing I pay attention to it no vacations good luck next you grow hopefully it does not look like this last round
So the tent light is a Tarantula Tent Ultimate, when you look at their par maps, it’s as good or better than advertised. I only get 150 / 200 ppfd drop or less from anywhere in the tent, right out to the very edge.
In front of the tent, I hung a shelf from a rolling wire rack, just to hang the lights from. The two on the outside edge are SF1000 that the ole lady was using for veggies, she harvested and I grabbed’m when she wasn’t looking. The center is HLG 65 V2 that I use for seedlings.
I’m just making due with those because I won’t be puke’n plants out the front of the tent anymore… I learned my lesson.
Nahhh… 9 autoflowers, 3 each of Dos-si-dos, Runtz & Super Lemon Haze. Man once they started competing for light the stretch was crazy… hence the tent puke some out in front of the tent. (I moved them cause it was way overpacked)
