You could also get a sulfur burner …
They are pretty cheap and it’s not like you have to gas the whole house , a little goes a long way…
You could also get an o3 generator and run it for a week down there and kill everything…
Yeah , you have to understand that , that mold could be on your roof , around your house , in your floorboards and always want to come back…
I would suggest an 03 generator …
just be careful because they are dangerous and could harm you or your family if not used properly…
but it should get rid of your powdery mildew problem with no ill effects as long as you use it properly and if it comes back you already have the tool to kill it for another few months…
It will kill plants , so you have to do this with no plants in there…
I would also run the o3 generator in your new build for a week or 2 right before your ready to bring in any plant’s…
It should sterilize the room and everything in it…
I see plenty of ozone generators under $100. Any tips on what to look for/not buy?
The list of “needed” equipment for this hobby is unending.
They go by room size…
Like your inline fan…lol
I would get something that’s 2 or 3 sizes bigger then my square footage and I would make sure that it’s not the cheapest one…
I’ve heard good and bad about them…
If I was putting my money where my mouth is , I would get something in the middle in price for double the size of the area I’m trying to sterilize…
Sorry that I can’t give you specifics on this …
I just want you to do your research on these before you jump right in…
But I’m pretty sure that this will fix your problem…
And as long as you use it correctly it should be super safe for you and your family…
It’ll only be used in the basement, maybe a spare bedroom.
I’ll have to do some more research first.
I’d debated getting one a few weeks ago. Now it’s on my “within a month” list. I just got my RO buddy today. I’m pretty excited to have a dedicated grow room. It’ll only be 9’x11’, but for the small amount I grow it’ll be perfect.
Still working on the fire suppression…
Ok, half baked info. I listened to a podcasts with Clackamas Coot and he uses a foliar spray as a preventative. He grows in the Pacific Northwest, think wet. Says he has been mold free in his garden for 7 years.
Didn’t write down the ratio or technique:
Karanja
Neem
Soap nuts
Foliar spray
I’ll listen tomorrow and update.
From now on, like I do for pests, I’ll be using preventative measures.
Def get back to us on that podcast.
It’s what he calls IPM.
Integrated Pest Management
Update.
It’s been 12 days since I sprayed with piranha. I’ve now hit the plants 3 times. Still, the wpm persists. The piranha does a good job of keeping it in check. It doesn’t appear any more effective than the serenade, but it does smell better. Probably better to use on flowering plants but it’s still no cure.
Of the 4 plants I doused with green cure, 3 of them have shown no more signs of wpm. These plants are all in veg, no flowering plants. The green cure def. affected the leaves; some scorching and discoloration. It looks like green cure might be the way to go if you catch wpm early and before flowering.
Time will tell.
Also, I ordered this today.
I’m hoping it’ll kill the wpm in my tent, as well as in the new grow room. Just another drop in the bucket.
@Drinkslinger. Hope this finally works for you.
Once I’m done harvesting the plants in the tent, I’ll shut the flowering tent down for a bit. I’ll build out the permanent room, then begin again.
So far no cures for destroying wpm on currently flowering plants. As I suspected there’s only “management” of the issue.
if you want to spray on inoculate buds against mold you should use bacillus amyloliquefaciens in my opinion the easiest way to get this in a nice form is to buy hydroguard… no smell, you dilute it…but this is a preventative measure and I always thought you would have to use it outside…
bacillus amyloliquefaciens is the active bacteria strain in serenade opti, the biofungicide
good luck bud…
I thought bacillus subtilis was the “active” bacteria in serenade? I was using it before, but it stunk and only knocked the wpm back for a couple days.
I’ve now collected these in my fight against wpm, (serenade is not pictured because I was too lazy to go down and get it).
The Microbe Life product is not OMRI rated, but it should be safe for foliar feeding. Both that one and the Orca contain bacillus subtilis and bacillus amyloliquefaciens
The Piranha doesn’t contain either of them. It did seem to slow the wpm, but I was spraying every 3-4 days with no real decrease. Plain water might’ve done the same.
I sprayed the plants heavily with an Orca-water solution today while the tent was getting nuked. Let’s see if the bacillus duo can make a difference. At this point I’m not expecting much, and repeatedly soaking 6 week old buds is just asking for another type of trouble.
bacillis subtilis may be the active ingredient in serenade but serenade opti is bacillus amyloliquefaciens. its the same thing…, they renamed.
bacillus amyloliquefaciens, just that is what u want in my opinion… I have been researching this a lot for other reasons… but it is the main strain they are all trying to have ownership over… BAYER has it…
you can buy hydroguard at the hydro shop…
in my opinion if your going biological, bacillus amyloliquefaciens…. will be the best…
I’m still confused with the serenade opti. I can’t find anything other that subtilis referenced.
But it doesn’t matter.
The two products I have do contain bacillus amyloliquefaciens, and I’ve started with the orca first.
I’m not necessarily looking for a biological cure. I’ve just ended up here.
I’ll still gladly listen to any methods that people feel worked for them. It’d be nice to have a solution to wpm that others can go directly to.
yeah cool bud, you get whats going on… same thing, in Australia its bacillus amyloliquefaciens…
" Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain QST 713…
if you see hydroguard give it a go… no smell same thing… no where near as concentrated… that’s the powder right…
So I have hydroguard liquid form, are u saying dilute this to a given ratio and thenthe use it as a foliar spray?
ok so you understand what this will do? its spraying a coating of bacteria over your plant, this is a form of biological defence……
so a wash is a definite in my mind
yes you will only need it to the diluted amount, as its very concentrated… ,
by the way everyone please know I haven’t done this, it was just found in my search for hydroguard in Australia… its a great biofungicide, and this is a preventative measure …
cool?
then go for it…
I fully believe this will be good…
