#growgoals right there!
Hey @OGIncognito quick question. When using my autopot, how do I check ppm to know when to feed since there is no runoff? Do I have to did deep toward the bottom to get a soil sample to make a slurry?
I feed the same amount on every reservoir fill. If you notice an issue you can pull the bag or pot and check the PH in the tray but you should be fine to run each res top off the same every time ![]()
Ok cool, I’m running Jacks321 so easy peasy. Just watch the plant for when to start? Calendar wise I’m thinking next res fill so next week to start mixing.
Well I did a dumb…I topped her and all of that. I was down just moving her a bit and split goes one of the branches. Tried honey and a tie, and sadly that side was a goner. Now I have a lopsided lady, but she’s still cruising along. Ya live ya learn. @OGIncognito
Been there Brother, I had a manifold and split one side off by accident and just retrained it
it’s the GSC on the left
After a few weeks of vertical growth
Nice! I’m gonna have fun with it
Here she is today, with the stats. I think I’m going to call her lopsided Lucy since her manifold didn’t start the way I planned lol.
Here we go with today’s stats! She’s recovering nicely from the accidental branch break and loss I think. Tolerating the Jacks321 feed well and these autopots are amazing! One question @OGIncognito how often do you change and refresh your reservoir? I have one of the paint mixer drill bits that I use to mix the gallons of nutes and give it a light stir daily.
I start off just mixing 4-6 gallons at a time and I use a 2 gallon plastic container. The jacks doesn’t leave hardly any residue so changing the res mix isn’t an issue. Rarely do I let the res go empty, I keep adding weekly to keep what’s needed to feed from Saturday to Saturday. I do take a starting PH of what’s in the res and adjust what I’m putting in to get just at the bottom of the range and play the drift for a few days. It’s a good practice to check the res PH and PPMs once or twice a week just to see if there’s been a spike or drift. I do a water only res topping the last 2 weeks leading up to harvest and clean the res after to start over ![]()
This was cleaner until I started using Mega Crop ![]()
Awesome! I mixed up 2 gallons to start and keep an eye on the level. Running one pot in early veg she’s not super thirsty yet, but drinking steadily. My ph went from 6.3 to 6.5 so still well in range and my ppm has stayed steady at 883. Good to know I don’t have to drain and refill every feed lol. That would kind of defeat the purpose and kill the time save. As always I appreciate the guidance! ![]()
You switch from Jacks to MC? If so what’s the data comparison just from an observatory standpoint?
Yeah buddy, I’ll usually start the initial gallon or 2 …enough to fill the tray with the PH on point then add the remaining mix at a lower PH playing the drift. When I’m running straight coco it 5.8-6.2. Coco loco is easier with a wider range and going at 6.3 and let it ride to 6.8 then repeat the following Saturday ![]()
I ran jacks for 3 years and the MC for 1 year, I’m converted and 100 % A Mega Crop user and believer. 1 part and done and my growth and yield results are better ![]()
I’ll have to look into the coco loco for next one! Who makes that? I’ve been intrigued by the coco coco/soil grows, but have been afraid to jump lol. How is coco different with the autopots? Do you have to drip from the top too to keep it all moist?
The coco loco is a fox farm medium and the only one I would recommends. It’s been steady and reliable on every bag I’ve used with very similar slurry test results straight from the bag. For auto pots coco is definitely the best medium I would recommend, you still need to top feed to get the root growth and them eating from the lower part of the pot. The top can get a little dry but below is moist, I switched to coco loco because I work out of town for a week or more and had a res or 2 go dry and so did the coco…no bueno, with coco loco you can have a dry back period like soil ![]()
Oh awesome! I’m going to have to give it a try. So the starting process is the same? Top water until ready to turn on autopot and then same as I’m doing now? Do I have to feed right away?
Same rooting/top feed process just PH water only for 6-8 weeks. I’ll usually start feeding around week 6 ![]()
