The first time plan....Thoughts?

Here’s the plan- indoor grow, Goldleaf
4x4 tent 80" high
600 watt led
4 plants in 3 gal pots
scrog
organic soil
water- no nutrients
That’s the plan so far and I’m asking for input from the experts to give me their thoughts. I am doing this as a way to make extra money and have limited space. I have many questions but I thought I’d start here…

I have the same set up and heat is gonna be an issue. That light puts off quite a bit of heat. You’re going to want at least a 6" exhaust fan and a speed controllers that can handle at least a 440 CFM. I honestly would get a 8" fan 740 CFM. Looking back on it now, just imo

Yes, and the room I’m using is hot to begin with so I will vent heavily. Thanks hawkeye!

May want to find a small little portable air conditioner or a window unit if it is feasible to do so if the temperature is too warm. When you get all of your components then I would sugest a couple of days running the system to get a feel about how the room is going to run with everything but the plants

I would suggest taking a second look at lighting. I think 1 600w won’t be enough to get the most yield.

@50w per sq. ft. you want around 800 true watts (actual power draw). I would suggest adding at least 1 more 600w LED. Having more than one also allows you to space out the lighting to get maximum coverage. I use 2 900w LED’s and I really wish I had done 4 450w lights. (5’x5’ space).

You might also consider nutrients but your plants will tell you that by showing defeciencies.

What if I went with 4 300w leds? I haven’t bought anything yet so I can do what is best. Thanks Matthew!

Now that you say that Hawkeye, I’m going to change rooms and put a small window ac unit in there. Thanks!

Considering your room is square, I’d do 4 and put them evenly over the plants. With 3, you’ll be forced to have a line of lights or an odd shape.

I’ve installed a few tents and have been doing 4 (sized correctly). Works great, nice even canopy coverage.

If doing 4, look for a model that puts out about 180-200 watts each. So, probably a “400w” LED. Something like that. I just personally wouldn’t go over 50 true watts per sq. ft.

Sounds good! Any brand I should use or stay away from?

How many seeds of Goldleaf should I get to grow 4 plants?

I use Viparspecta. I like the dual veg/bloom switches. Most have that now though. I know people are also happy with Mars Hydro, King, and some others.

If I said 4 would that be too easy? ILGM guarantees germination so go with the 5 pack maybe.

Good afternoon guys nice to be a part of such a great environment…I recently bought a white widow grow set to gRow in mY gRow room.
1000w HPS ×24+ lights
20 white widow grow set…??
A+ grow room
My question is can this grow set yield a pound per plant . I plan on going up to 6ft per plant

I’ll make a suggestion as well since your going to scrog you may want to reduce the number of plants I have a 4x4 tent with 4 super silver haze under a screen I can say I didn’t reach the max potential of any of the plants since room was limited to each in screen it will take a little longer to fill up screen but you can get more from less just something to think about
And you would streach your seed purchase out ?
Other wise @Matthew420 and @Hawkeye_diesel made great points

You’re gonna need double the amount of light. In a 4x4 tent, I wound suggest 4 x 300w LED lights. That way you have 1 300w light for every 4 sq ft.

I have the Higrow 600w that I use in my 5 sq ft tent. I’ve been really happy with it so far.

For a small closet I’d suggest 300 watt ceramic hid…could do a 4x4 tent with good vent…yield should be nice…from what friends told heat is not an issue…

HPS is 50 watts per square foot. LED requirements are 35 watts per square foot. A 600 watt LED will be sufficient for this size tent. (16 sq ft) Especially if @Hawkeye_diesel had a heat problem, he may want to stay with one LED to keep first grow costs down. If cost is no problem, by all means get the additional lamp(s) and the A/C unit to keep the room cool. A first grow is trying enough without having to fight heat the entire grow.

@TxGrowman - I agree with the 35w per sq ft for LED, but isn’t that supposed to be 35w of actual draw per square foot? Actual draw on my 600w LED is ~250w. So 250w ÷ 16 sq ft would only be ~15.6w per sq ft. He would still need to double that before flowering.
