Will hot water not melt the trichomes?

I’m certain you can get water hot enough to do this, but I don’t think hot tap water reaches these temps. :man_shrugging:

Heat degrades THC and ice cold makes it brittle and fall off. Room temp to slightly colder is the key for bud washing.

Hey can someone explain. The reason for washing at all??

It gets rid of the detritus, bugs, mold spores and stuff that sticks to the plants as they develop. It’s especially useful if grown outdoors, but I wash all my buds grown indoors or out.

Hmmm ok thanks

I’m amazed at the chit left behind in the water after a rinse.

I do 8 gallons RO water/3 bottles peroxide as the first wash.

Then dunk in straight RO water.

Each rinse for 15-20 seconds while swirling the bud around in a bucket.

@BlackShirt @merlin44, take a look at your nutrients for sulfur content and how much that you’re feeding through flowering. If you look at most of the finishing recipes from popular nute likes, you’ll see just about all of them contain magnesium sulfate or potassium sulfate.

You can bump sulfur pretty easily with some Epsom salts. Like 1/2-1 tsp per gallon is usually pretty reasonable concentration. Give it a shot and see if that helps bring scent out a little.

Thank you @dbrn32, that is one of the things that I have done with my current grow (about 5 weeks from harvest), been feeding Epsom salt every other feeding with Cal/Mag in between.

My hopes were that this might improve the aromas. Again thank you very much.

Funny you should bring that up…a few weeks ago I did just that and guess what?

No sulphur mentioned (Even the finishing products (FF)), so precious little if any present. I may be under doing the Epsom salt, will bump it up a bit this time around.

In my experience if you’re staying around that 1 tsp/gal or less you should be able to apply regularly just about to time of harvest. So don’t be afraid to mess with schedule a little there.

Maybe @dbrn32 has solved the scent mystery!

Wouldn’t that be totally awesome!

Yep! It makes sense at least relating my experience with yours as my supersoil has Epsom salts in it.
