The Basic Needs

A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks.

" I got 4 plants from a friend of a friend and was told I could put them in the ground outside, so I did this and withing 12 hours they went completely brown and died. I’m in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I do have a medical card, so now I’m thinking I’d like to try indoor. I’m just a little confused on what I will need exactly in order to produce 4-5 plants in my basement. This was my first time growing outdoor and I’ve never even seen indoor. So can you please help me with, What I will need.

  • What type of Tent, tank, or anything else to grow it in.
  • What do I need for lights
  • Temperature control (humidity,)
  • Anything else you can think of that i may have forgotten."

Growing indoors is not cheap. Here is a list with prices on everything I started with. You wont need everything I started with at first, but you will need most of it eventually, and I’ve have had to add a few more things since.

And to add to that, I have two plants indoors, and two outdoors growing right now. They involve a lot of time devoted to them to do it right. I would suggest starting off with two plants until you figure this all out. Its far from just dropping seeds in some soil and watering them.

There are three different lighting sources that are used here. It’s a preference thing. Some use T5s (type cfl), some use MH & HPS and others use LEDs. All can grow good cannibis. Some very costly. I would look at you options and decide what’s best for you.

Depending on your living situation, the options are many! My first grow set up was using scrap and cheap lumber to divide an existing basement room into two rooms. Probably cost me less than my grow tent to cob it together, light proof it.

If stealth is required and you need to control sounds/smells then obviously, your costs go up accordingly (carbon filter, exhaust fan, silencing methods, etc).

@Rugar89 initial cost list was similar to mine and I am slightly ashamed of how much cash I have spent on my current indoor set up but for me, this time, stealth was paramount as far as odors go.

What he said…lol It’s an investment and if you Love Growing Marijuana, it’s easily justified!!

Hey there!
For plant care keeping an eye on values like humidity, temperature, Ph ect. is very important! I found a shedule for this values somewhere in this forum or on the ILGM website im the guides (can’t remember).

Week 1 (veg. Growth):

Week 2 (veg. Growth):

Week 1 (Flowering):
Week 2 (Flowering):
Week 3 (Flowering):
Week 4 (Flowering): (the TDS is just again 50 higher then in the week before)
Week 5 (Flowering):
Week 6 (Flowering):
Week 7 (Flowering):
Week 8 (Flowering):

Of course all this values may have to be adjusted cause every grow is different ;^)

Hope this helps.
