Also that’s how I started,my mentor started me on AN and told me stay with it because you won’t have to mess with PH,after that I gave PH no thought…ooopppssyyy
You won’t if you stick to the ph perfect with ro and solid dirt hes right but like a silica product will spike way high and silica is pretty important as well I’m not sure if it will directly effect flavor increase but it just makes for heartier cells over all and I’m sure the vessels to transport nutes in turn what ever really effects terp will be optimal as well… plants are comprised of about 70٪ silica I got cal mag silica moonshine…light water moonshine… full strength food cal mag moonshine…light water moonshine and that’s with really high light levels as high as atmospheric ambiant co2 will allow … all you can do is go down the checklist and make sure everything is spot on then you can start figuring out exactly what’s missing … temp ph rh soil ventilation (eventually co2 helps) light genes good food …then you can start tweaking each thing once you get the full line of basics perfect grow in and grow out
I already keep my tent at about 1500 Co2, using fungus grow bags…like I said, I’m going to order that pen and I will see where I’m at. I’m very curious about it. I always see people talking PH levels and just figured through all my good grows that it wasn’t an issue. Way things work for me, I’ll start messing with PH and start having problems! Lol, still interested to see where I’m at. I’ll order today on Amazon and have reading I can share within week.
edit: profanity
Can you send me a pic or exact name of what you use?
I personally use general hydroponics liquid chemical reagent it’s more of a make sure it’s on deal now because I used a pen tediously till I seen how much of up or down was needed feed to feed I use
One of the head chemist at AN branched off and made this emerald harvest line …also 1500 ppm co2 requires elevated food temp humidity and light to utilize 1500 ppm co2 u must have at least 1700 to 1900 ppfd capable lights which is really high …my hlg 600s run at 1525 ppfd they can handle about 850 to 1100 co2 if you have all of those elements except 1 the whole system doesn’t work and you could be working negatively with all that co2
Ok, I ordered a digital PH soil meter, and I ordered GH oh up and down kit with soil and strip testers…they arrive Tuesday and I will take readings and will let you know what we got if you don’t mind?? I’m actually very very interested to see
Regarding your question, it would be nice to know more about your environment: temps, humidity, a/c or dehumidifiers running, etc.
High temps will absolutely ‘cook’ terpenes out of the plant. Keeping temps moderate (under 78F) will go a long way to maintaining terpenes in the flower where you want it.
Old school growers used to spray Kool-aid on the hanging plant to produce a ‘flavor’. If trying to boost natural terpene production have you tried any terpene-enhancers? How about Epsom Salt? Some soluble sulfur is beneficial for aromatic production FYI.
Like stated you don’t really have the PPF available to take advantage of CO2 and frankly the exhale bags are not worth running. Tank, regulator and monitor on a timer with HIGH efficacy/output lights in a completely sealed space with climate control to keep temps and RH down while under high CO2 partial pressures. Usually plants are done in hydro so can push much higher nutrient loads than with other media. All in all it becomes a highly technical and expensive exercise.
I only recently started researching Terpenes. Like I said, I have had pretty good success sticking to what I was originally told to do. Unfortunately, I no longer have his guidance, so I stuck to it to just get good at very basic first. Now, I’m looking into Terpenes, thanks to your suggestion, PH reading this week. I’ll shoot you my basic info tomorrow, temp, rh, lt I’m using, co2 reading…
Don’t want to make it to technical because for me it then looses the fun/relaxing part of it.
Oh the relaxing part turns into the pleasure if bettering the product in my eyes the better you grow the more relaxing the buds are ![]()
@Myfriendis410, thanks for input,and @fano_man also. Ok, tent #1- 2x4x6tall, Solarstorm 440, RH-53, Temp 78, Co2 950, Air intake is 4" cannisters fan/filter for smell
Tent #2- 6x6x8 tall, HLG 600s lt, RH-53, Temp 78, Air intake is 6" canfan/filter.
Nutrients are GH.
Also add Mammoth P, .6ml per gallon. Following pics are…Tent 1- mid second week bloom
Tent2- mid fourth week bloom
Also Co2 level in big tent is 1000-1100
Dam dude the only thing I see missing is you …your green …but jo terp enhancers either… I remember speaking about silica but I dont remember if you use it… I just found a bottle of rhino skin I was looking for first thing it says on front of bottle… tenacious tricome production dont tricks and Terps go hand in hand I dont wanna tell you to do something that isn’t fact but I would thinkntrics have alot to do with taste and smell… hold on I’m gonna do a quick search…
Yea that’s what I thought high amounts of tricks definitely will increase you pungency…flavor and smell … uv will also increase tricome production in turn high flavor and smell concentration… I dunno
Thanks my friend. No Silica. Going back to earlier convo we had about nutrients. I used AN religiously for first 8grows or so…had all those things in the “formula”.Rhino Skin,B-52,BUD Candy,on and on,about 12 different bottles and also about 4 others…the nutrient price was outta hand. So I switched to Basic GH program and in all honesty have seen no difference in fruit. Way lower nutrient costs. After reading what @Myfriendis410 said about CO2, I think I have to totally agree with him, that hanging co2 bags in tent is really just making me feel good about it, lolol, I don’t think I’m really using it properly or at right levels/times to really see any ±…I will continue to hang 4 bags in big tent and 1 in little in future grows just because it seems to work for me and it makes me feel like I’m really doing something… ![]()
…
You might be experiencing what I’m expecting to experience going back to gh to not waste to much this grow… I’m suspecting the In your case AN and in my case EH switching to gh is gonna get about same results because every grow you learn
Agreed, I don’t have massive square footage to make worth using the so called “upgraded” nutrients that in the long run, with every other factor the same, increases your gain by say +5% max? Not worth the additional costs and time for a 1/2oz. If I had thousands of sq ft,+5% is alot.
I agree maybe I’m over doing it maybe not but this run is to help determine this I hope I dont have to eat my shoe… I know I’ve even learned alot in the 6 months it’s been without a single plant in my possession so eith these couple steps back I will get to evaluate the simplicity with base plus juuust a lil and see if I’m a statistic of marketing
Funny, you and I seem to be on a " this can’t be that complex" kick! Like I said, I have friends that grow with tap water and miracle grow with couple T5s,so I say simplify it and move on…lol
@fano_man,just did my ph for first time ever!! Bought a digital soil reading meter and SUPRISE,It’s a piece of shit, anyway I measured my tap water with no nutrients, was about 7-7.5,with nutrients 6.5,watered 1 plant to get me some in the catch tray coming out and it was about 5.5…i really wanted that shit meter to give me an actual soil reading,so my question then would be,as long as I stay about right there, that should be sufficient??
