Switching nutrients, threat or opportunity

Hi folks,

I’m growing plants in coco coir, Autopot system, i’ve been using Advanced Nutrients, but starting to think that should i try to change to Plagron nutrients. Or is switching even “safe”? If i change the nutrient line, should i flush a little with water before? My ladies are on a week 6 veg.

Just my .02.
Check the ingredients in both before you switch. They may or may not have the same concentrations of the necessary micro and macro nutes to be what you’re used to using.
May require additional items or tweaking.

It’s fine to swap fertilizer, just make sure the new stuff has a full list of ingredients so the plant doesn’t suffer nutritional deficiencies.

If it doesn’t have calcium and magnesium you will need to supplement that.

If they do have a nutritional deficiency you will notice it in a few days when growing in coconut coir. Any weird dots or pale leaves are an indication there isn’t enough food for the plant.

Hey guys random question, how would you be able to see/tell if too much nutrients is too much?

Tips of leaves will burn. “Painted nails” is the edge of nutrient strength.

It’s rare to overdose nutrients with cannabis plants. They are heavy feeders and can take and use lots of nutrients. Other heavy feeding plants are roses and citrus.

As long as you follow the instructions on the fertilizer packet, you are unlikely to overdose. I was using a double dose on some of my bigger plants and they were fine. Smaller younger plants won’t need as much fertilizer but big 4ft+ specimens can take it and use it, especially if there is plenty of light.
