Super Silver Haze growing in bed of super soil

I have read that cooler weather will cause them to purple up

Yes this is true. Can also be caused by genetics or phosphorus deficiency.

In this case I think cold was the primary factor but there may have been others.

Here are the latest pics of the Super Silver Haze

Has about 2 to 3 weeks left

I would think about 3 based on the white hairs but I’m definitely seeing some cloudy trichomes already with my jewelery loupe. I’m going to try pushing it 3 weeks unless it’s getting bud rot or starts getting too many amber trichomes.

That is absolutely awesome that’s what dreams are made of. I’m actually smoking some super silver haze right now it was from my first ever grow.

Haha, did you light up some SSH to smoke while you read this thread? I am honored.

I started harvesting the Super Silver Haze this morning, but only some buds here and there. I was going to wait a little longer, but the bud rot is starting to kick in and many of the buds appear to be fully mature based on both hairs and trichomes.

When the base of the stem cracked, the colas seemed to be very stressed from it while the lower branches were unaffected. And now I am noticing the buds on the colas appear fully mature (orange hairs and very milky trichomes) while the buds on the lower branches unaffected by the stalk crack still could use more time (white hairs and half of the trichomes are still clear).

I was surprised any of the buds were mature because Super Silver Haze is usually 10 to 11 weeks, sometimes 12. It began flowering around Aug 1st and so I was expecting to finish around October 10 - 15. I suspect the cracked stalk caused the plant to try and finish more quickly, at least on the main colas. The other buds do appear to need a little over one more week which is more of a standard SSH flower time. The difference in maturity between the parts effected by the crack and the parts that weren’t is truly remarkable and extremely noticeable. I always thought flower time was a more purely genetic thing but apparently this is not true.

So in my previous post I mentioned how the colas and branches near the top have matured much faster than the lower branches.

I know it probably sounds hard to believe, so I took pictures so that you can clearly see what I mean. I have never seen anything like this before. It is well known that different parts of the plant can mature at different rates, but this is like night and day. They almost don’t even look like they are from the same plant. It is almost as pronounced as if there was different phenotypes expressed on different parts of the plant. That isn’t what happened but I’m saying the difference in maturity is HUGE.

The first pic is of the bud from the lower branches that is not yet mature. The hairs are still mostly white. Unfortunately I can’t show you the trichomes but under a jewelry loupe it still has plenty of clear trichomes.

The next 2 pics are from buds on a branch near the top of the plant. Not only are there no white hairs, but under a jewelry loupe all of the trichomes look straight milky white. Barely any clear trichs to be found. Even the structure of the bud looks different. Like I said - it’s like night and day. The magic of plants.

@John7 I have been harvesting for the past 5 days off of her for about a full hour every morning… and half of the plant is still there :rofl::rofl:

I’m noticing this morning that even the least mature nugs are finally looking pretty cloudy and the nugs higher on the plant are cloudy and amber, so I will try to finish harvesting her over the weekend. Even after harvesting half of the plant, it will be alot of work this weekend getting it all done. There must have been at least 5 pounds of bud on this thing when I started harvesting. I’m losing some to bud rot but honestly it is a blessing in disguise because I have way too much trimming to do. Check out my previous comment too about the difference in maturity between nugs. At this point the colas are going overmature. I think I will finish up the more mature nugs tomorrow and the less mature nugs on Sunday, another 2 days should get them to a good spot.

She is finally fully ready :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hey man that’s a heck of a harvest. Sorry I can’t respond quickly having problems at home from hurricane. Don’t have internet still finally got power
