I’ve been drying my Tangerine plant for 14 days so far at average temp 65 degrees F and average RH about 61%. The buds and sugar leaves feel very dry on the outside, and they are fairly light, fluffy buds, so I don;t think the inside is still wet.
The thinnest stems (~1mm diameter) give a snap, but the slightly larger stems (2-3 mm) still bend. Some of the thickest stems are up to 5 mm, and I have not tried these.
The hay smell is gone and she now has a nice citrusy scent.
Should I wait for the larger stems to snap, or trim and bag the buds now (I’m going to use Grove bags)?
@FrankCos The one time I used the “snap test” all of my buds were over dry. I switched to a Wood Moisture Meter, testing the buds until they were at 12% moisture….haven’t had an issue since.
Grove bags are awesome… I have sooo many Mason bars just laying around now.
As @SlayinAsquirter said… Use a moisture meter… 10-12% = 58-62ish rh by hygrometer in a bag… Perrrrfect for putting into grove bags for cure.
I always do as @Storm said… Before grove bagging… I brown paper bag them overnight… Then bag them.
According to the grove bag people…
Paper bag them to stabilize the moisture before grove bagging.
Leave air in the bag… Don’t squeeze out excess air.
Heat seal to use the full technology of the bag.
I’ve heat sealed and not… About the same… Maybe a bit better and faster cure with heat seal… But nothing major… A month minimum.
