Hey all fellow growmies, I’ve run across something new for me and need your help and opinions. I’m unfortunately a little too familiar with bud rot, bugs, and caterpillar damage. But I have run across what looks like stem rot.
There were a couple of buds on the stems that looked like they were damaged as well, perhaps even by the stem rot. So those got cut off and tossed. But other buds look totally fine along the same stem. So, my question is if the bud looks OK, should I continue to trim, wash, dry, harvest, those buds and get rid of any visibly damaged buds or should I throw out everything on the rotted stem?
Thanks for your help on this. I’ve isolated the damaged stems away from everything else until I understand the best option.
Well rot spreads by spores and penetrates plant tissue. Spores travel everywhere, but if it didn’t make it through the plant tissue the bud should still be good. The wash should kill spores in the surface,
Any effected branches I’d toss. Wash others without visual problems well.
Toss anything that has visible mold and wash the rest. Im currently using 1st bucket hypochlorous acid and water fully submerge for at least a minute or two, shaking it vigorously before putting it in the 2nd bucket that has peroxide and water 3rd bucket just has water for rinse.
More than welcome @plumbdand
There’s a few others that make their own as well just can’t recall who right off. Lol.
Damn CRS.
Might be some of the GFOG too.
Sup @Darran . I would inspect closely to ensure you eliminate any rot, which sounds like you have already done. If you have a “rot” problem in stems, that is something I have not personally experienced. All the moisture is in the flowers and growers in humid climates can expect to battle that threat and I can attest it happens. From the pictures you posted, I can’t say one way or another. Like @low and others have stated, eliminate anything with rot or mold. Best to you man.
morning Darran… good advice given already… when I find it at harvest time it has just started and I throw away that branch and closely inspect all branches and buds once I find a spot of mold… I have never done a wash mostly since I am inside and just prefer to toss the affected branches…so far this has worked for me but the rot that I have gotten was fairly light and couldn’t tell I had it till I tried to break open the big bud which I do on every bud to make sure nothing inside… I have never gotten it so bad as to see the brown decaying plant just the white fuzz…
