BUD ROT! Please help

@Nicky @neofirebird @Caligurl @emgoldslo @Coen3440

So, I’ve harvested 2 plants so far, and both had a section of bud rot in the main cola where the bud was thickest.

I thought I was doing better this time, but I just saw some webbing on the outside of a big bud, and cut it off to reveal that the other side is covered in bud rot.

#1, can sections of this bud be saved? it’s going to weigh over a quarter ounce when dry, and this plant’s buds were looking better than anything else I have grown or am growing, and there are 4 more buds like this one. Can I cut out portions that don’t have the mold on them?

#2 would a bud wash help to salvage the better parts of this bud? I read to make a solution with 1 cup peroxide to 5 gallons water too clean off powdery mildew and dirt - will this kill the bud rot mold too? If so I would assume I do this right now before drying.

#3 I’m pretty sure this happened because I closed the door to my grow room a week or 2 ago. I left it open to keep humidity and temperature down, but my entire house smelled - even outside - and I have family over who don’t need to know my business. RH got up into the 50’s, but my dehumidifier didn’t kick on set at 45. I have an exhaust fan on the room with a carbon filter, but it’s probably not strong enough, I also have a circulation fan blowing on this plant at all times.

I cut off 4 buds I saw it on, and this is the worst. I just discontinued nutes on this one 2 days ago, and planned to harvest another this friday, so I will probably do this one then too, the remaining buds look great, I’ll get a pic.

Anyway, pls help.

Agree with @Fergus

Cut more than you think you should and wash the rest.

I had bud rot on one of my NL plants last year and decided to destroy entire plant instead of worrying what I was consuming.

Yea what they said, we always end up with some in our outdoor with as high as the TH is here and we just cut it out, but now that I know about the bud wash i would do that too.

Thanks, I lost 3/4 of 5 nice fat cola’s, but this plant has about 25.

I’ll harvest the rest 4 or 5 days early on Thursday or Friday. This one was supposed to go mid next week. But I’d rather take the rest a little early than risk more rot. I’ll post pics in the other thread.

Thanks

That is a pretty bad rot for indoor though, you may need some more air movement. I have 4 6 inch fans and a 16 inch fan just for air movement, plus the two fans on my carbon filters moving the air and 1 in-line fan for the lights and one intake fan for fresh air. I think I have 9 fans between my two rooms lol

That second pic is a really bad infestation (webbing) I honestly don’t know if I wold keep it but you can try like they said above, cut off more than you think you need to and do the bud wash… once you cut all of that off, you may see it’s probably not worth saving (and risking). The wash will not kill bud rot and you definitely need to cut that out as well.

You will need to clean your tent completely once the plants are out… I mean everything… fans, ducting, cords, your lights… everything.

I personally would pitch the whole bud, if you keep what looks good is would make edibles with it. If you inhale more spores than your body can fight off the fungus can grow in your lungs. Bud rot will spread fast so you might want to chop anything in your tent so that it doesn’t spread to the rest of your buds

Yeah that’s a bummer ! Second picture pretty bad I’m with @Gardenguy I would toss that bud you really don’t want to take changes with smoking mold spores. Your best friend is plenty of air flow to avoid mold an white powdery mildew. Definitely follow up with a bud wash. Good luck and happy growing.

Yeah that’s a pretty bad piece you have there ide throw all of it.

Be careful how aggressive you are while moving the plant the spores go everywhere with movement and airflow yet you can’t see them because our eyesite is not thst good.
Cut more then you think you should.
Inspect each bud really closely, look at the outside as well as the inside many times bud rot starts from the inside towarss that stem.
Bud wash.

Consume at your own risk, normally. I would make Edibles to be the safest but I recently had a little bit as well, cut it out and plant to sample this bud because I need to know how this strain is lol. That being said I don’t know how much I will consume of it, I may just sample it and toss it in the oil making pile.
