Hello, ive been trying to plan ahead and create some kind of schedule. Last year I had autos, didn’t really know what i was doing or had time to do much besides water. Not proud of it. This year i’m trying to do better, but I need some input. Would like to know how big of an indoor grow tent id need, a good soil and nut list and schedule. Any other tips also.
Heres the info.
Strain is NorthernLights, femnized photo seeds. From ILGM. Im planing on 4 plants.
Ill be growing outdoor, in central VA.
Id like to pop the seeds around the start of April 4/5 Grow indoors for until i can move them out. Start to accumulate around 5/15 at the latest, moving them out during the day. Harvest around here is about September/October.
So about 20 weeks to plan for
Week 1-week 6
First big question, how big of a tent would i need and how strong of a light for 4 veging plants for over a month, maybe a little longer depending on weather. Light schedule would be 18/6. Id like to have them end up in 10 gallon pots once outside. But ill have them started in 5 gallon pots while inside in FFHF unless offered input on a different soil.
Week 6 - week 7
Accumulate to the out doors, change light schedule to match natural light schedule.
Week 10- week 11
My next big question, transplanting. Once my plants are recouped, id like to transplant into 10gallon pots. But what soil to use is where im stuck. Was thinking 50/50 FFHF/FFOF. But not sure, i read NL like light soil read OF is a little heavy. Id like to give the plants as much help as i can to grow and produce quality and quanity.
Week 11 and beyond I feel like depend on my soil and my feed schedule.
Any input is appreciated. I plan on creating a grow log and grow journal. I have about a month to get ready before i pop.

You could do all of your indoor stuff with a 2 X 4 and a 250 watt light. Small footprint and easier to run in the sweet spot.
I prefer container growing outdoors as you can bring plants in during inclement weather and protect plants from thieves if necessary.
Photoperiod plants don’t respond too well to urban outdoor lighting. If you have streetlights or whatnot you may want to run autos.
You are planning on transplanting into tens with fairly large vegging plants so something like FFOF would be fine to use. You might also look into ‘grow dots’.

Have a very weak porch light by where they will be at. I could change it out for a green light if it looks like it might be to strong. Not much light pollution.
Ive never heard of them, but im not really a grower. I was thinking about using FF nuts for I could use the nuts specifically for veg, vegto flower transition, and flowering.
After reading a little about it it says recommended uppotting is once. Solo to final pot. But the ease of it is very appealing. So i am interested in going that route. Have you used this product before? If so were you able to use any addition nuts to boost your crop?
Would the grow dots be with FFOF or an alternative?
Thank you for the advice!

I’ve never run gro dots as I’m mainly an indoor grower. But others have had good success.
Something that you will learn is: less is more. You really can’t push growth with nutrients. Just keep it at recommended nominal for best results.
FF nutes are one of the most expensive lines out there. I prefer Jack’s and it would work well in outdoor container growing.

So i think im going to pass on the grow dots this run for i can transplant, but I thinking jacks for my nutrients. So if my plants are in 5 gallon pots of FFHF for only 10 weeks, before moving to the 10 gallon 50/50 HF/OF, when would i feed them? Or would you have any recommendations for soil? Thanks for the help! Just would like to know when i should have nutrients ordered and here.
Never feed until the plant tells you. You may be able to go most if not all of the grow without adding supplements.

Hey thank you for you help! Im ready to start ordering.
Im getting a 2x4 spider farm tent
2 of the SF1000D lights. They are only 100watts each. Its 140$ for the pair.
I would be open to going for a better deal even if it means more money.
Its priced decents, plus its just to give my outdoor plants a head start. Thinking i can suplment it if i need to or always upgrade.
Once my tent, light, soil get here im just going to go ahead and pop the seeds.
Im going to pop the seeds once they are an 3 inches tall throwing them in a 5 gallon with FFHP.
After 4 weeks hopfully they are growing right ill switch to 10 gallon FFHF/FFOF
Week 6 move out doors
Week 7-9 ill move to 15 gallons with a 1:1:1 FFHF/FFOF/FFSF
I have decided to go with Jack 321 Nutes on stand by, unless i find a good source for spring water, but If not im going tap.
Thanks brother. So much info out their had to have someone throw in some input.
Do the water and peroxide soak. Place sprouts in a Solo cup of coco and run with a clear dome with 24 on light schedule. 200 watts will be fine for veg. Once plants are larger around than the cup, transplant.
Doing it this way helps with overwatering when they are most delicate.
No nutes. The cotyledons carry enough nutrition to carry them for a couple of weeks.

I fill a shot glass with distilled water and dribble in 1/4 tsp of 3%. Soak seeds until they crack and show a tail before planting.
