Hey all - I’m in Northwestern Virginia and haven’t done any growing in…oh, 30 years or so. Which back then was just guerrilla growing some seeds back out in the woods and hoping for the best with limited success. I just started some seeds indoor last week (2 out of 6 have popped up so far). Anyone with knowledge of this climate or similar know if I have enough time to finish them outside, or should I figure out an indoor situation now? Strains are autoflower CBD Kush, NYC Diesel, and White Widow. It’s possible for a frost mid-October here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge. I was thinking to put them out in buckets and then move them into a small greenhouse if it starts getting colder at night. Any thoughts would be most appreciated!

@likeOwlNotCrow im no pro but without all the right equipment I’d use the sun !!! Just my opinion
Also the taking in and out isn’t something I’d want to do if the environments are different. Which I suspect they are …

With autos you can usually get to harvest a summer. I would go for it. @likeOwlNotCrow I am in your neighboring state to the south on the west side. I am very familiar with the Blue Ridge You should be good till mid-october or first Frost.

You said you had a green house if it goes to long you can always move it in there

@dirtydave - thanks! I was thinking in case of a random cold night or early frost warning I could always move them there if needed. Mid-October here you never know if it’s going to be 32 or 82 here

I just thought not only does the plant need to adjust when you bring it in …but again when you bring it out …
I’ve been tempted …during storms even …but I just won’t do it…I’m afraid of indoor light leaks and air conditioning and just anything I can do to keep the plants conditions as consistent as possible

Probably gonna need to finish indoors… but keep outside as long as possible. Bring in before rain moves in for 4+ days… tough to dry them out in late summer, not enough heat or sun light.

Imo, you probably don’t have enough time to get the ideal results. I wouldn’t expect these plants to start flowering until middle of next month, and they’re not going to go through a full flower cycle in 4 weeks to finish in mid October.
You could bring them inside to finish, but you’ll likely bring a host of pests in with them. Doesn’t seem like a big deal, but you won’t have nature to help dealing with the pests once inside.

thanks @dbrn32 - that’s a good point. they would be at a crucial stage when the weather is starting to become less than ideal.
