Started today, I'd love any advice and help I can get! Thank you in advance

I have 2 babies growing here. They are both autoflower purple skittlez. I used a pot for pot and grabbed two grow kits. One is .5 gal and the other is 5 gal. I followed the instructions completely and now have them set up under my grow light. It had 3 settings. One is red, one is blueish purple and then i can turn both on to create a neon pink. I’ve currently got both on and I just want to know what else I should do. It’s around 30 inches above the pots. should I move the light closer? Should I change the light color? Should I be worried about growing it in a closet? I’m not sure what else to ask but I’ll definitely think of more! Thank you to whoever has read this far lol I over explain too much lol

Welcome to the community! Did you soak your seeds in water or in a damp paper towel before planting? Tell us a little about your grow space. Temp, humidity, light info etc. Lots of great people here that will help you out.

Thank you! I soaked them in water for 24 hours, both seeds dropped. I an using this light

Temp is about 75 in here but I cant change it honestly. It just gets hotter. I’ve got it in a small closet with sliding doors with the light set to neon pink

You definitely want to get some sort of fan to move the air around, and unless you don’t care about your whole home smelling, a good exhaust fan with carbon filter. And you’ll want to get out of that .5 gallon reeeeal soon. I have an auto in a 1 gallon that is almost done, and I had to start feeding twice a day. She’s in coco, though. Lots more will chime in real soon with other tips. Good luck and happy growing!!!

I see you are able to make your own thread now. :+1:
@Borderryan22 knows his stuff and gives good advice.
I looked up the light and can see it claims 130w actual draw. Probably closer to 100w and that is minimum needed for 1 plant in a 2x2 area. You will hear from a lot of growers that you need to upgrade your lights. Lighting is probably the biggest and most necessary expense. I run 2 Mars T-1000s for 3 plants in a 32x48 space.(3 on average as I have plants in different stages all the time)

You will do well to run both switches for the entire grow I believe.

When they break ground, watch them and adjust the light lower if they stretch too much.
Keep asking questions anytime and by late spring/early summer you will be harvesting some sticky-icky!

I will look into a fan for sure, I’m guessing a regular old box fan doesn’t count? Lol. The smell isnt a concern honestly I believe my neighbor grows, it smells like sweed crazy outside all the time haha. So one gallon is enough then? Or should I get bigger to transplant? I have mine in coco as well with all the nutrients that it came with. Thank you so much for your time!! I appreciate the help

Would you be able to tell me what would happen potentially if I dont switch the light out? I’ve been reading up but I’m still a novice. I’m very excited but I’m an over thinker and paranoid lol. I dont want to mess up and kill the babies somehow. Also how long should I keep the light on for this period of time, I read somewhere that I should keep it for 12-18 hours a day. I set a timer on my phone for 12 hours. Will this be enough?

I’m sorry to keep posting I just want to make sure I do everything right, should I water them the first week?

I suggest bigger, only because of how often you have to feed in a 1 gallon in coco. 3 gallon is pretty good for autos. Since they begin flower usually in 3 to 5 weeks, they don’t need tons of room for root development. Plus, at 2 weeks from harvest, mine in the 1 gallon has become pretty top heavy lol

@Keke420 ,your light is fine for vegetative stage, but for flower you need about 50W per square foot. ( 100w or better per plant ). You could Veg both plants out and only flower the stronger plant. If you plan on buying a light @dbrn32 is the guy to talk too.

If you mean don’t get a better light then it means your buds will be less than they should be. Light and airy and not much to them.

We will all help you to not do that.

Autos don’t much care as long as they get enough light. Some people keep lights on for 24 hrs with autos. I run my autos on an 18/6 schedule for the entire grow and just raise/lower my lights as needed.

I do not use coco but to my understanding it has to be watered daily to keep it moist. No wet/dry cycle with coco. My guess is water only for the first couple of weeks.

You keep right on posting. :+1: Also if you keep your posts here, as you have been doing, and not start new ones it will be better for us and you as well.

Definitely don’t run on just red, that will make your seedlings stretch and potentially fall over. Go with both or potentially just the blueish setting for now. When plants are more developed you’ll definitely want both switches on.

Welcome to the forum Keko,

I am just getting started with Autos one thing I can tell you is that you will want to either FIM or Top your Autos. I let my first round of autos grow 4’ tall and ended up with fat buds on top but then had to chop off the top and continue growing the plant. Topping or FIM’ing will make the plants more bushy and allow the growth on the bottom of the plant to grow up to the top of the canopy and you get big fat buds through out your plant.

As for transplanting I plan to move mine to 3-5 gallon fabric pots.

You asked what happens if you do not upgrade your light? I can tell you my photo grows with an underpowered light produced buds that did not grow to their potential.

Best of luck, there are plenty of great people here willing to help out.

I had 2 of those lights. They got me through the seedling stage, but i ended up switching to a mars hydro ts1000. For me at least- my plants TOOK off. I can see why they say 100 watt per plant though. After only 6 weeks i’m starting to see the serious growth and i’ve had to buy another light.

Don’t panic or react too quickly on the lighting suggestions. They’re all valid, but know you’ve got at least 3-4 weeks to make a decision.

I somehow managed to grow these 4 autos with only 200W total LED input.

I have less light than recommended.
I was told that and believe it. What they are saying is true. BUT I ended up with 6.75 dried oz from my 4 autos.

That was more than enough weed for me and my wife.

It sort of depends on what your goals are for growing. Mine was to grow some good weed that I knew what the strain was and that was not laced with something…and have fun growing it .which I really do enjoy growing !! And I am now the resident expert in the neighborhood. Go figure. I pity those poor souls.
