My best plant was doing great. Then developed these bumps on the lower stem. Then the plant crumped. Something clearly wrong with the lower stem. What is this? Did I do something wrong? How can I prevent it?
Im not sure what the final symptoms of pythium look like but best practice is not to water too close to the stalk. Always stay a few inches away. In your picture the soil looks wet. More investigation is needed to pinpoint exactly went wrong. Im sorry to hear your loss.
Water resivoir get tainted?
That medium looks super wet and dense…I suspect you have a root issue. Root rot??
Yeah, the bumps are not the problem, that’s just callusing. All plants and tree do that when they’re trying to grow new roots. All the bumps on a stem is the plant trying to sprout new roots because they old roots were dying.
I second @OGIncognito wet or compacted soil holding back the air.
How is the drainage?
If it was me I’d try to clone it. Learn from your mistake and move on. Everyone here has messed up and learned from it. Don’t get discouraged just keep trying! Even if it would fail to root a clone imo it could be worth the attempt especially if you have some new green growth towards the top. At the very least you’d gain some cloning experience.
Great advice Grow Bro
Thanks for the advice all! Yup, looks like I way over-watered. Trying to dry my other plants out now. They are in a mini greenhouse outside, so I’m pulling them out during the day.
I made some clones when I realized the plant was dying. Looks like I have 2-4 that are gonna take.
This is a continual learning process…. Thanks again
Yes it is my friend
Overwatering is a very very common mistake. A word of advice is to look at your plant. If her leaves are out and happy no need to water. Get yourself a moisture meter to learn what works. They are cheap and fairly cheap.
