Solar Anyone? Power and backup

Ok – so we have a generator (for the RV) in case we lose power – but we’re also installing our solar panels (from the roof of our RV – because the RV is now covered) onto a rack (that tracks the sun) and putting a second battery bank in place to run my growroom.

Anyone else using solar – for primary and backup power? Show me your configuration? Teach me.

I just have roof mounted panels (25 panels). They can generate up to 8000 watts an hour. Even running grow rooms, washer/dryer and central air, I’m still sending power back to the grid.

Does the power company pay for it?

They buy it back for about 1/2 of what they charge for it.

I don’t live in a classic home. I live in an RV – so the government solar programs are really wishy washy. But, I do hope to sell some back, but that’s not my main objective. Lowering costs and dependence on the grid is what I need most.

I love the fact you are able to send back to the grid. We can’t find anyone within two hours of us who knows anything about solar – and the sellers don’t want to mess with us, cuz we’re in an RV.

Main thing is to make sure you have a clearing to your south. You’ll get the best generation when pointed to the southern sky since the sun is always slightly to our south.

We’ve got them in a great location. The tracking rack helps too. Thanks.
