Help, I have harvested my Purple Bud Feminised. It’s all dried and cured for over a month now but there’s a slight musty smell that was present during the grow and still there now. RH was never above 55-60% during the entire drying process. I had constant air movement as well.
Soil grow with a 600w HPS. RH was always 30-40%. Completely flushed for 2 weeks while monitoring the runoff ppm. My temperature was dipping to 11c at night during the grow and I’m wondering if thats caused irreversible damage. There was no sign of mould anywhere.
Would a hydrogen peroxide rinse and dry help

I wouldn’t rinse at this stage.
Do you have a scope you can look at the buds with? Might have some mold. If no mold present, thats just what your bud smells like!

@AAA My first grow I did a wet trim before I dried. I was annoyed that I had this funky (not in a good way) smell to my weed. Then I just happened to stumble across a discussion somewhere about wet trimming vs dry trimming. There were a lot of growers who said that they noticed an “off” smell when they trimmed wet. No issues when trimming dry. So, for my second grow I waited until dry to trim and I didn’t have any issues with the smell. There was one poster who offered a scientific/biologic explanation but of course I don’t remember it nor can I find it.

@AAA I know you didn’t ask me but I’m going to wet trim one of my 4 plants. Just to see if I like it or not.

@AAA I will have a proper look using my microscope. It smells like that when it was growing though that’s why I’m wondering if the constant dropping in temperature caused it.
@LandShark I did a wet trim. I find it easier with my eyesight being the way it is.
@Davyg I completely agree that it was easier to wet trim! Maybe I’ll try to do a little experimenting with the trims.

@kellydans it did indeed. It’s running at around half throttle just now and it controls my air change in my tent which has helped to reduce the smell to almost zero. Next step is a filter with a greater capacity. I also have a 6" clip on fan circulating air in there as well as a 4" inline fan pulling air through my new air cooled hood and circulating it internally. It’s being controlled by the inkbird and comes on when needed. I’m getting there slowly but its frustrating when things like this happen. I’ve bought an inkbird controller to control my temperature and it’s working a treat as well. Just need a solution to this off smell now.

That’s cool sounds like you got environment issues all under control. As far as smell that’s a tough one. The drying and curing process is something that I am always trying to improve on. @Myfriendis410 might have a suggestion on the smell. Good to hear from you good luck
