Skippy's first grow, Banana Kush, WonderDawg, White Tahoe Cookies, Black Jack in coco with Jacks321

Sunday, August 20. Day 7 of flower.

I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks using the 2/2/2/1.2 ratio (forgot the silica) and 3 ml Tribus with PH 5.81 EC 1.9. Each plant got 3 quarts and run off was between 20 oz and 32 oz. I removed a double hand full of small growth under the screen and some large leaves above, pushing everything out to the edges of each plant trying to let some light and air into the canopy. I fed 8 oz of the 4/2 Jacks mix with 3 drops of Tribus among the cuttings/clones. 1 week into flower and I am feeling pretty good about things so far.

Monday, August 21. Day 8 of flower.

I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks, 2/2/2/1.2 with 3 ml of Tribus added to the mix, 5.81 PH and EC 1.89. I fed each plant 3 quarts and run off was between 16 and 32 oz per plant. They use more feed with the big leaves on the plants. I removed a few leaves from each on top. I put 16 oz of 4/2 Jacks at 5.88 PH in a container with a few drops of Tribus and fed each cutting/clone 2 oz getting some run off from each one. I thought I would do a little experimenting yesterday.

That is a 1 pint jar. I decarbed 40 grams from the G13-A plant from my last grow. It is probably my least favorite to smoke of things I have grown myself. The decarb was in a quart Mason Jar in the oven at 240 degrees F for 1 hour. Placed in the freezer alongside some 190 proof grain spirits for 24 hours. I covered the crumbled flower with the alcohol and shook it up for 3 minutes. Placed it back in freezer for 1 more hour, shaking it up every 15 minutes for 30 seconds or so. I then strained it through a mesh strainer and then through 2 coffee filters. The jar was emptied into a clean white corningware casserole dish with a cloth covering the top secured by a rubber band. This was placed on top of my dehumidifier because I had to set it somewhere. It is still liquid as of this writing. I have seen many similar instructions on QWET and the last one I read was an @blackthumbbetty journal on here. I think she would have filtered this again at least one more time. I am hoping to end up with some oil to use for making myself some edibles. I may try this again without the decarb process to have some concentrate for smoking, although I do not have any vaping device or a rig for doing dabs. I remember some sticky stuff we used to get that was referred to as hash oil 35-40 years ago and wouldn’t mind ending up with some of that.

Tuesday, August 22. Day 9 of flower.

Somehow screwed up taking the fist pic. I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks 2/2/2/1.2 starting with 3 ml silica and ending with 3 ml of Tribus original. 5.88PH and EC 1.85. The 2 smaller plants got 2 and 3/4 quarts and the 2 big girls got 3 and 1/4 quarts. 16 - 28 oz of run off each. I turned the 2 HLG 260 RSPEC lights the rest of the way up, total watts is now 630 or so. DLI is between 28 and 33 at the canopy. The height of the lights can still be lowered and the BP 2500 in the middle still has another 120 watts available. I gave the cuttings/clones 2 oz each of some Jacks 4/2 mix with 3 drops of Tribus at 6.0PH getting a small amount of run off. I measured the DLI of the cuttings at 6 but just realized I had left the phone set at 12 hours, so math.

The lights on the cuttings are on a 6/2 schedule, still equaling 18 hours daily.

Still mixing 3 gallons daily, Jacks 2/2/2/1.2 starting with 3 ml silica ending with 3 ml Tribus, 5.88PH EC 1.9. The 2 smaller plants on the left in that photo got 2 and 3/4 quarts each, the 2 larger girls got 3 and 1/4 quarts each. Run off was between 10 oz and 18 oz. I intentionally did not remove any leaves and thought I should probably allow the plants to grow without my assistance in defoliation for at least a few days. The cuttings each got 2 oz of the 4/2 mix at 5.81PH with a little bit of run off.

I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks 2/2/2/1.2 starting with 3ml silica and ending with 3ml of Tribus 5.81PH EC 1.85. The 2 taller girls got 104 oz each and the 2 shorter ones got 88 oz each, no run off on 3 plants and the smallest had about 16 oz of run off. I removed a handful of the largest leaves. The cuttings received 2 oz each. The stretch is on.

Need to start mixing 4 gallons at a time.

Friday, August 25. Day 12 of flower.

The last photo shows the 2 Banana Kush plants on the right, the 2 White Tahoe Cookies on the left. Today I mixed 4 gallons of Jacks starting with 4ml of silica, 4 grams per gallon of part A, 2 grams per gallon of part B, no epsom, no MKP, and 3 ml of Tribus. 5.74PH EC 1.85. The 3 larger plants each received 128oz (1 gallon) and the smaller one got 96oz. Run off was between 32 and 42 oz each, or between 25% and 33%. I gave 16oz to the 8 cuttings/clones, reserving another 16oz for tomorrow. I removed some small growth from underneath on the closest plants, and some larger fan leaves from each plant. Everything is still looking good to me and any leaf damage I find seems to be in places from my rough handling. My 4th grow is probably going smoother than the previous ones, or I am just not freaking out about every little thing the way I have before. I even went back and looked at my first grow after getting no run off on 3 plants yesterday to compare run off quantity and I seem to be right on track.

Saturday, August 26. Day 13 of flower.

These things have more than doubled in height in the last 13 days.

I mixed 4 gallons of Jacks using 4/2 ratio, started with 3ml of silica and ended with 3ml of Tribus 5.88PH EC 1.83. The 3 larger plants received 4 quarts and BK#7 was fed 3 quarts, run off was between 28 and 40 oz each. I did no defoliation today and moved the magnetic backed hygrometer about 12-16 inches higher up the pole in the corner. I fed the cuttings/clones 2oz each.

I started these clones/cuttings 26 days ago and they have good root growth and almost everything above ground is new growth, these could have been transplanted up anytime in the last 10 days but still seem fine where they are. Nothing is even close to being root bound and they are still only getting 43 watts of light from more than 30 inches away. They are still only getting 2oz of Jacks per day and I will continue removing any leaves that get very large.

Sunday, August 27. Day 14 of flower.

The actual wattage draw after the light fixtures warm up is 625. I wanted to increase light to the plants so I lowered the fixtures by about 5 inches, sitting now at about 32 inches above most of the canopy. The PPFD is between 730 and 800 and the DLI is 33-38 around the canopy and at different height of plant tops. Of course I knocked one of the HLG fixtures down on to the plants breaking the tallest branch off of the shortest plant. I also lowered the fixture over the clone/cuttings about the same, DLI is 9.4. Having topped one of my plants the hard way, I mixed 4 gallons of Jacks at the 2/2/2/1.2 ratio starting with 3ml of silica and ending with 3ml of Tribus, 5.88PH and EC 1.86. The taller girls got 4 quarts each and the shorter one got 3 quarts. Run off between 28 and 40 oz each. The cuttings each got 2oz. The temps in the 4x4 are 84F and RH54% now with the lights on. I am hoping we are past the worst of high temp weather here although the forecast is for getting into the 90s again about a week from now. There is still another 125 watts available from the BP 2500 light in the center of the tent. I will keep an eye on things to make certain I’m not putting too much light on them this week. I do not recommend the gravity assisted pruning techniques I have used here, mostly because light fixtures are expensive.

I mixed 4 gallons of Jacks at the 2/2/2/1.2 ratio starting with 3ml of silica and ending with 3ml of Tribus, 5.81PH and EC 1.88. The 3 big girls got 4 quarts each and the smaller one got 3 quarts. Run off was between 16oz and 40 oz each. The cuttings/clones each got 2 oz. I set a timer for 10 minutes and did some minor defoliation where I could easily reach and things needed thinning out, I am trying to leave them alone but it seems so crowded above that screen. Flowers are visibly starting everywhere it seems. No complaints or questions from me so far.

Wednesday, August 30. Day 17 of flower.

The zoomed in pic is of the Banana Kush #6 in the back corner of the tent. I mixed 4 gallons of Jacks at the 4/2 ratio starting with 3ml of silica and ending with 3ml of Tribus, 5.81PH and EC1.87. I gave 3 and a half quarts (112oz) to the shorter girls and 4 quarts (128oz) to the taller girls, got back 28-30oz (25%) on each plant as run off. I spent 10 minutes doing some defol on the plants up front mostly stuff that wasn’t going to be worth leaving in place.

I have removed a similar amount the last couple days, and will most likely do the same daily for at least this first 3 weeks of flower. The cuttings/clones are doing well and will need to be spread out and have some defol done on them. They each got 2oz of Jacks.

I mixed 4 gallons of Jacks at the 2/2/2/1.2 ratio starting with 3ml of silica and ending with 3ml of Tribus, 5.81PH and EC 1.83. 112oz fed to the smaller plants and 128oz to the big girls. Run off was between 20 and 32oz each. Very minor defoliation done today. 2.5oz fed to each of the cuttings/clones.

I mixed 4 gallons of Jacks at the 4/2 ratio starting with 3ml silica and ending with 3ml of Tribus 5.81PH and EC 1.86. BK#7 got 3 and a half quarts and the other 3 girls each got 4 quarts. Run off between 20 and 36oz each. I tossed out 2 of the cuttings/clones, topped the 2 tallest ones, and fed all 6 about 3 oz each.

I mixed 4 gallons of Jacks at the 4/2 ratio starting with 3ml of silica and ending with 3ml of Tribus, 5.81PH and EC1.89. BK#7 got 112oz, WTC#1 got 120oz, the other 2 plants got 130oz each and the run off was between 28 and 32oz each. The remaining cuttings/clones got about 3oz each. I think things are still looking fine and ready for the major defoliation at 3 weeks after the flip. I still have a hard time thinking about removing so much of the plant, despite knowing that it works. A last look at one of the branches, I am fairly certain this is the branch that the top is just barely visible in the center of the last photo above. It isn’t a good photo and is one of the very outside and shortest branches above the screen from the WTC#2 at the front/right of the tent.
