Skippy's first grow, Banana Kush, WonderDawg, White Tahoe Cookies, Black Jack in coco with Jacks321

This is the best picture I could find of the stands.

They can be slid out as it is now but in the 4x4 tent the ones in the back are just more difficult. I had found some used storage bins like to slide under a bed but they are too tall. I am really just sort of thinking out loud.

Notice I designed these to allow for more structure above the plants like you made, but I did not use them for that.

Monday, August 7. Day 35 above ground.

I had thought to feed a little less water when I start adding the Tribus since I don’t need to continue having 1/3 run off.

It says manufactured in July 2023 in hand written sharpie on the label on the back so it’s fresh. I mixed 2 and 1/2 gallons of Jacks still using the 3.6/2.4/1.2 ratio which comes out to a convenient 9/6/3 grams per bucket. Set PH at 5.81 and EC 2.03 and then added 2 and 1/2 ml Tribus Original, PH and EC remained the same. Each plant got 2 and 1/2 quarts and run off was a bit more than a half quart each. I think about 12% run off. I hung another oscillating fan in the tent for the top of the canopy.

1 Last look from the top, seems to be filling back in nicely.

I used Tribus also, but with a different method. I applied it once weekly, a couple hours after their daily feeding. Mixed into pH’d water only and applied about 1L to each. No runoff.

From different sources I have read to mix it straight into the Jacks mix, or to only feed once or twice a week-at the same application rates. Or to top feed the way you are doing it. The funny thing to me is some of the videos from Impellio basically end up saying that any way you get it into the root zone is better than not feeding it at all. After watching several videos today, I think I will just add it to the Jacks mix at 1/2 ml per gallon and continue feeding till run off like I have been without it. Probably will increase that to 1 ml a few weeks into flower.

I wasn’t happy having only 12% run off last night so I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks setting PH at 5.88 and EC was 2.08. I added 1/2 ml per gallon of Tribus and fed each plant 1 and 1/4 quart early today with no run off and then 6 hours later 1 and 3/4 quarts each, I got about 1 quart each as run off. It was 3 days ago I defoliated the 2 Banana Kush plants and tonight I did a minor defol on the same 2, mostly small stuff growing low on the branches and a few larger leaves from the tops trying to let some light in. A view from above before and after.

This is what was removed from the cart on the left.

I should do the other cart tomorrow.

Wednesday, August 9. Day 37 above ground.

These pics are after today’s kind treatment of all plants involved. I mixed up 3 gallons of Jacks at 5.81PH and EC 2.00 and added 1 and a half ml of Tribus. I looked at the cuttings in the little tent and saw 2 of them were finally starting to show just a quarter inch or so of root at the side of the cups, another 2 might have been just touching the side. They seemed too dry, so I gave all 8 cups 1 oz of Jacks mix each. I turned the lights off in the big tent about an hour early and defoliated the other cart, just touching up the first one. I turned the carts sideways which is how they will ride out the future of this grow. The 2 Banana Kush are at the front, the 2 White Tahoe Cookies are across the back. I gave all 4 girls a good spray down of some Jacks dead bug spray as a preventative. Each one got fed 3 quarts and had about 1/3 run off. The carts are turned this way because it’s easier to feed and remove run off. A look from above before buttoning up.

And this is what got removed today between both carts.

I think I can flip the switch anytime, might wait long enough to make certain I have a viable clone from each plant. Any day now.

I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks 3.6/2.4/1.2 with .5ml of Tribus. Set PH 5.81 EC 2.02 and gave each one 3 quarts still getting 1 quart run off from the 2 cookies and about a pint and a half from the 2 Kush. Removed a couple of the hold downs in the middle of the plants. Top down.

Mixed 3 gallons of Jacks at 5.81PH EC 2.02 and added 2.5 ml Tribus to the bucket. I am trying to make certain I have enough Tribus to go through 9 weeks of flower.I fed each plant 3 quarts and got back 1 quart from each in runoff except BK#6 was about 24 oz. I think I’m starting to see roots on at least one cutting from each of the 4 girls, should know by tomorrow. I guess I’ll make certain everything else is ready for the flip and get on with it very soon.

Had not seen the girls for a few days. My, my, they are going to be ladies soon.

I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks still using the 3.6/2.4/1.2 ratio as the plants seem to be doing well. 2 and a half ml Tribus in the bucket 5.88PH EC 2.01 I gave each plant 3 quarts and got back a range of amounts of run off. The Banana Kush#6 upfront on the left had 8 oz of run off, #7 had about 16oz and each of the Cookies around 24 oz. I gave each cup with cuttings an ounce of Jacks, still not seeing roots on the WTC #2 but at least 1 of each of the others is showing.

Sunday, August 13. Day 41 above ground.

I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks with Tribus, PH 5.81 EC 1.96 and fed 3 quarts per plant. I got back 16oz on BK#6, 32 oz on BK#7, 24 oz on the big Cookies girl on the back left, and 32oz on the smaller Cookies back right. I fed each cutting 1oz and may have achieved some roots on at least 1 from each plant. I seem to have 1 big girl and 1 smaller girl on each cart and am considering moving the more vigorous plants onto the same cart even though that makes 1 of each strain on each cart.

The 2 plants under the left screen are the Tahoe Cookies, the 2 on the right are the Banana Kush. Since I started my first grow in this journal I have harvested 5 Banana Kush making the 2 here numbers 6 and 7. So far there seems to have been 2 expressions of the plants. Some tall, vigorous growers with large harvests of very strong cannabis that taste sweet and a seemingly sharper, more citrus smell. The shorter gals still had good production of good buds, but with more of a funky, deep flavor reminiscent of some tropical fruit I can’t seem to name. I am hoping #6 there is more like the first description and is good enough to bother keeping a mother from. I typed all of that out to say I might move #6 on to the cart with the more vigorous Cookie to sit in the back of the tent and leave the less vigorous gals up at the front. I managed to get a length of flex duct attached to some 6 inch elbows to be able to close up the vent windows at the bottom of the tent. I should probably go ahead and flip it to flower and quit screwing around.

Monday, August 14. Day 1 of flower. After 11.5 hours of darkness.

The pic of the AC Infinity controller is from before opening the tent. I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks with Tribus, 5.81PH 1.99EC. I gave each plant 3 quarts of Jacks and got back more than 1 quart from each plant. That was 18 hours after the previous feeding. Top down look before touching the plants.

I moved and tucked any tops I could towards the outside of the screens, I did no defoliation but will be removing material constantly going forward. I now can see roots showing on at least 1 of the cuttings from each plant. DLI for a 12 hour light schedule shows an average of 28 around the tent from the photone app. I have no idea how accurate it actually is, and am not particularly worried about it. The plants look great to me, any leaf damage visible is in places that are almost certainly from my rough handling of the leaves and branches. My biggest immediate decision is whether to feed the MPK mix, the standard mix I have been using, or the 4/2 with Tribus recipe others are following. Coming soon, the battles to control heat and humidity. This is the controller after 1 hour of lights on with the tent buttoned up. Yes I took that cobweb in the pic down.

I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks using the 2/2/2/1.2 ratio plus 2.5 ml of Tribus, PH5.81 and the EC was 1.89. I will go look back in this journal to see if I recorded what that EC number should be, the number seems low. Each plant got 3 quarts and the runoff ranged from 24-32 ounces.

I did some defoliation on the Banana Kush #6 at the front left in the top pic, mostly removing some stuff underneath the screen and some of the largest leaves up top. I have now removed the domes on top of 6 of the cuttings that have some ok roots developing and left the other 2 covered since there is only a trace of rooting on those 2. RH in the big tent is a bit higher than I would prefer, I’m hoping the temps and humidity in my area will come down a little bit by the time the stretch is finishing up.

I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks starting with 1 ml of silica using the 2/2/2/1.2 ratio and added 2.5 ml of Tribus Original, 5.8PH EC 1.97. Each plant got 3 quarts and run off was between 24 and 28 oz per plant. I did some minor defol on the BK #7 at the front right in that first pic, mostly underneath and a few large leaves up top. Top down when the tent first opened.

I also mixed a separate gallon of Jacks using 4/2 ratio of parts A/B and set the PH at 5.88. I put 8 oz in a container and added 3 drops of Tribus to that container. Each of the clone/cuttings got 1 oz. I removed the domes covering the last 2 cuttings as there are roots now visible on them also, although they are behind the other 6. The other 6 have actually started to put on some small growth in the leaves and height. You can see cannibalization of some leaves on a few of these, and the 2 on the left side of this pic are the slow ones. The difference is visible. I have an oscillating fan now blowing above the cuttings providing some small movement. I just want to keep one from each plant.

After taking the year off from growing I have felt like I am forgetting something important every day of this grow but when I look at the pics I think this grow is going just fine.

Thursday, August 17. Day 4 of flower.

I pulled both carts, all 4 plants out of the tent today. I shop-vacced the floor of the tent since it was empty already and I have the vac. I turned the cart that had been upfront around and put it in the back of the tent and trimmed underneath on that side of the Banana Kush plants. I trimmed up underneath the other cart on the side that would go in the middle, placed it back inside and lightly trimmed up the top of that cart. I will probably need to trim up the rest of that cart tomorrow. I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks using the 2/2/2/1.2 MKP mix with 2.5 ml of Tribus. I set the PH at 5.88 and the EC was 1.89. I fed each plant 3 quarts (96 ounces) and got 24 to 28 ounces of run off on each (25-30%). I gave the clones/cuttings 1 oz each of the Jacks 4/2 mix at 5.8PH. The top down look from before moving stuff around. You will have to look at tomorrows post to see how the defol looks.

So looking at the pic now, the front cart from left to right are the White Tahoe Cookies #1 and #2.

In the rear row left to right are the Banana Kush #7 and #6. Number 7 appears to be the shorter pheno, and number 6 the taller pheno, the defol was more intense on those because they are harder to reach and the front ones can be touched up easily. I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks 2/2/2/1.2 with 3ml silica and 3 ml Tribus, set PH at 5.88 EC 1.89. Each plant got 3 quarts and runoff was 22 to 32 oz each. I also poured 8 oz of Jacks 4/2 mix for the cuttings adding 3 drops of Tribus to the container and giving each 1 oz, no run off. The cuttings/clones look fine to me.

Just trying not to screw it up.

I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks, starting with 3 ml of silica and then used the 2/2/2/1.2 ratio plus 3 ml Tribus 5.88PH and EC 1.85. Each plant received 3 quarts and run off still between 24 and 32 oz on each plant. I also put 8 oz of Jacks 4/2 mix in a separate container with 3 drops of Tribus and 5.81PH. Each cutting/clone got 1 oz and I lowered the HLG 135 rspec light 6 inches closer to the tops. The fixture is still set at 43 watts draw.
