Thank you. I was curious, as your girls go through more water than mine did. I used 3 gallon bags and they generally used 3L with 30% runoff, about half what you feed. Guess that sounds about right.
Sure are some pretty colas developing.
Sunday, April 24. Day 27 of flower.
I am mixing 3 gallons daily starting with armor-si at 1/2 ml per gallon. Jacks is 3.6/2.4/1.2 and PH is 5.85. 2 feedings daily of 3 quarts each plant, each feeding. No runoff from first feed, less than 1 quart run off each after second feeding. I was thinking I would flush the plants occasionally but they seem fine to me, so I will wait for signs it’s needed. Here is another shot of the tent from the side.
In that second photo you can see the difference in the 2 plants with the one on the left being smaller and on the right the taller one with the purple tint to it. I guess if I ever have everything at the same height it will be from cloning something. No complaints from me.
Looking good!
Friday, April 29. Day 32 of flower. A peek through the window last night.
So I raised the lights up as far as I feel safe doing. That makes 8- 10 inches of space above the lights.
When the lights first turn on the watt meter reads about 660 watts, after 20-30 minutes it is around 645 watts. A pic from underneath the screen.
There is a clear difference to my eyes in the coloring and bud development between the 2 girls. The bigger girl currently at the front of the tent has a purple tint to the leaves and in the flowers themselves.
The smaller girl is a lighter green and flowers seem larger in diameter. They also seem more mature to me, particularly seeing trichomes on leaves close to flowers.
Despite my lack of Photography skills, I remain feeding Jacks at the 3.6/2.4/1.2 rate twice daily, 3 gallons total with a decreasing amount of runoff daily.
I’m filling the rez more or less every other day with 3 gallons of jacks, 3 plants total. Your garden is lookin sweet!
Do you count flower from light flip or 1st signs?
I have been counting flower as starting when I flip the lights to 12/12. I know others do it in different ways, but I figured in my mind there are 2 states for the plants to be in. The first state (veg) is lights on for 6 hours/ off for 2 hours which I start when the second set of true leaves is just visible on the seedlings. Then the 12/12 is flower. I am not trying to follow some nutrient company guidelines for changing nutrient bottles since I am using Jacks. I accidently ended up with only the 2 G-13 in the tent this round, but it looks full to me! I might only grow 2 at a time in the 4x4 going forward, it seems to just mean longer veg time. I feel like I am learning a little more all the time, I love this place with all the assistance I received. One day maybe I’ll have a reservoir!
I’m the same with the count. To me it’s more accurate than guessing when you think flower starts…that said our plants are close to the same timeline.
I’m not gonna lie, the autopot system is pretty easy as far as watering goes. With my mobility issues it would be a bitch to get in there and hand water
Sunday, May1. Day 34 of flower. I decided to measure runoff for no particular reason. Mixed 3 gallons of Jacks 3.6/2.4/1.2 PH 5.76 and fed this in 2 feedings only about 90 minutes apart. The quantity of runoff was 1.75 and 2 quarts for each plant. PH was 6.1 and 6.2 for each. The EC going in was 2.10 or 1050 ppm (please correct me if I am not figuring that correctly) and the EC of the runoff was 3.8 and 3.75 for each or 1900 ppm. I am debating with myself as to flushing with a gallon or 2 of water only for each and should I do it this evening or tomorrow before feeding. I feel I should try to get the ppms down close to the 1000 or 1100 ppm the feeding usually is. Tough job being a farmer, having to make these decisions. Here is a look through the window.
Sweet looking plants bro! What you growing in? Soil, coco…etc?
Thanks! I am growing in Canna Coco using Jacks 321 for feeding. These are 2 ILGM G13 Feminized growing now. Thanks for checking it out!
Your plants are looking great. Maybe keep an eye on the one on the left. I see a little clawing. Could be a sign of nute burn. I almost ruined my whole crop a few weeks ago
That is the best reason to grow in coco, I can just flush the plants right where they sit. I have the lights pushing 640 watts right now and those clawing leaves are on the very tallest colas. Even with my inexperience I sort of push things hard and then back off if need be. Good looking out!
Yep. I made the mistake early on growing in soil. I’m 6 months into my grow in my 4x8 and can’t wait until it’s over. I just started my 4x4 for autos and am using coco/perlite and love it. The growth is amazing with it. I like the idea of being able to fix a problem quickly lol.
Still day 34. I flushed each plant with 2 gallons of water and the output was showing 950 ppm.
One of the reasons I use EC is because there are three different ppm scales, which confuses this old guy.
I only just finished my second grow ever and first in coco, so my experience may be an outlier. I occasionally checked runoff and it was as much as three times the input on some of the ladies. Light fertilization schedule almost the entire grow. No flushing. As long as the plants look ok and I did not go more than 24 hours without fertigating with the proper pH, all was good. The only time I had a bit of tip burn (which is the leaves overheating due to lack of water) was when I went almost 40 hours without replenishment. Every hour the nutrient to water ratio increases, as the plants take more water than nutrients from the feed solution. Don’t understand why it works that way, at least not yet.
Plants look great!
Thanks! I am pretty happy with these 2 plants so far. I have some White Tahoe Cookies seeds I am itching to get started, but I think I should hold off another week at least. ILGM says 11 weeks flower for these G13, and I still haven’t decided on how many to start anyway.
Monday, May 2. Day 35 of flower.
While that picture sucks, I wanted to show the difference in how tall the 2 plants are so this is from the side of the tent before lights on. The next 2 are from the shorter plant in the back of the tent.
And this is from the taller one at the front of the tent.
I changed the mix a little today increasing part A and reducing part B. I mixed 3 gallons of Jacks 3.8/2.2/1.2 and will feed in 2 feedings still. At 5 weeks in flower there will be some more defoliating soon. This is a pic from the front before lights on.
Looks like very nice colas coming
I am thinking about what to grow next also. Lots of seeds. I really need to disable the “BUY” button after 2000 hours. Late night purchases gave me lots of seeds.
Still pondering when to sow another crop. I was thinking of dropping a couple of autos in AutoPots in June. Most likely though I will wait till August and start up five or six plants, three cultivars, and stay with hand feed one more time. Photos or autos, but not both again simultaneously. I do not want to mix more than one formula.
But I change plans with the wind, so we will see.
Cheers!
Friday, May 6. Day 39 of flower. Today I mixed 4 gallons of jacks at the 3/2/1 rate with PH of 5.85. I fed 1 gallon to each and intend to give a half gallon each 2 more times tonight. I am trying to dial back the nutrient burn in case I am screwing them up. I increased the total volume because run off was at about 8% of volume feeding only 3 gallons daily.
The next photo is from the tall girl.
And this from the shorty.
And one more after the lights came on.
