What are some brands of silica that will not alter soil ph
Silica is by nature very alkaline and it can’t be avoided. Brand doesn’t matter much so long as potassium silicate is the only ingredient on the label.
I add about a cup or two of diatomaceous earth (food grade) to 1.5 cu ft of soil when mixing it. Buy it at local animal feed stores. It’s inexpensive and can also be used for bugs and you can ingest it too.
Silica is already present in most soils.
I’ve never done a PH test but may put some in solution and check that out.
Hope this helps.

Lots of choices good choices.
I use AN Rhino Skin at each transplant and during late flower.
So I ran a couple tests adding about a teaspoon (5ml) DE to about 80ml tap water.
Tap was 282ppm and PH of 8.4 starting out.
After adding the DE ppm was 415 and PH went down to 6.5.
Maybe it’s the premixed solutions with silica and potassium that causes the PH to go up?
Verified my meters were calibrated so not sure if it’s the potassium causing the PH to go up but Diatomaceous Earth by itself actually drove the PH down.
I use monosilicic acid. You can get some right on amazon. Its good stuff and your plant doesnt even have to break down anything cuz its already readily available to the plant
Yes! Perfect answer IMO! The immediate availability is huge since silicon dioxide takes quite a long time to break down to a usable form.
