Advice on deficiency

Seeing some deficiencies. Plant is at 5 weeks. In ffof soil. Took a runoff reading, ph is at 5.6 and ppm is 2400. Only nute i have introduced is silica, which i only fed once. My water is ph’d between 6-6.5. Calibrated meter to make sure reading was good. Do i need to raise ph at next watering? Could it be cal/mag deficiency? I have a deficiency chart but am having a hard time verifying. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am not seeing a glaring deficiency anywhere. And at 2400 ppms u shouldnt need to feed just yet.

That 5.8 pH is a tad low. Seems to be reoccuring with ff soils lately. Some dolomite lime sprinkled and scratched into your soil can get that number up

Did you pH adjust the silica feed? Silica is pretty acidic (low pH.)

I ph’d the water. Then put the silica in. Checked ph afterwards and adjusted. Would this be the proper way?

pH the solution after adding silica to it. Add silica and then measure pH and adjust it to ~6.5 before feeding it to the plant.

Thank you

My silica additive actually skyrockets pH. But ive heard it lowers for some people

I damaged a plant with silica a month or so ago. What I just said was backwards and you are right. The pH was really high (9.5) and I failed to adjust pH before I fed it.

It works like a champ for flimsy plants and seems to be a solid preventative measure against pests (they dislike the taste from my light research).

I used it as pH up for a bit. Before I found out it was better used on ‘water/microbe’ days (add microbial solution after all else has been poured :man_facepalming:t5:)

I just watered today. I do not have any dolomite yet. Would you recommend watering some more today with higher ph water, or just wait till the next feeding?

Your medium looks pretty wet at the moment. Soil likes a wet to dry cycle :love_you_gesture:
