Show me your BONSAI!

While reading through threads here(lots and lots) someone i wish i could remember name to tag, posted pic of bonzai he grew from seed. It was impressive. If anyone who reads this knows who im talking about, please tag.
Anyway i bought a bonsai seed kit and am going to play around with it for a while.
Pretty sure it was @Growdoc that said something to the effect that if a turd would sprout id grow it. Im starting to understand that.

Thanks all for being here

I’m toying with venturing into bonsai. I’ve seen some amazing pictures. Sure the yield is lower, but it’s such a cool connection to the plant. Just a deep meditative state.

Ive just started playing with bonsai’s as well…

2 little oak saplings that I dug out of my yard. Our yard is FULL of rocks so the roots on these wrap around the rocks
and give me a great start to a gnarly twisted root stock.

Is growing a Bonsai harder or easier than Mary Jane?

@Lightbrightt2010, somehow i think it might be easier growing a bonsai, not nearly as much maint time but the bonsai may take a couple of years before.anyway buddy ill let you know. Im making this my bonsai journal and will keep it updated. This could be a years+ thread, thank you all for coming aboard.

I love Bonsai and have always wanted to but suffered from an over watering blue thumb for awhile. Really interested and following!

My grandbaby bought this for me for my Birthday. Another fun hobby.

I thought I had pics of the one I started from seed. My kids bought me the same kit I saw posted above. I got one to sprout, actually I got about 20 to sprout but it is a weeding out deal. The last one in the pot is the strongest and remains. He grew for about 14 months and just up and died.

I can only aspire to having something like this someday. Not quite enough time left for me. Takes decades to get this type of return on your investment.

Those are all amazing! I’m definitely eyeing the Amazon kits. Any other places you trust more for sourcing seeds and such?

Google bonsai starter kits. Not like cannabis with proven genetics and such. They are quite alot like weed though as to the nutes. I bought a 7-9-5 and they only need fert during the growing season, in the winter they go into a dormant state sorta and only need watering.

I would also check your local gardening stores or if you have an actual bonsai store where you can buy younger ones that are already established.

Nice, thanks! I found these and think I’ll give them a try to start. I always loved Japanese maples.

Now just have to pick out some nice long term pots and some nutrients.

Not sure why I didn’t open with this, but here’s actually my first “Bonzai”. She’s a whole lot in a little package so the name was fitting. I know, dog parents will look for any reason to share pics I guess.

Everything for my first true Bonsai are ordered and shipped. Got some of the Dyna Grow and the Happy Frog Japanese maple slow release amendments. Need to read up if those will also be beneficial for the flowering cherry, but I think it’s supposed to be good for most deciduous Bonsai.

While shopping for that found some cheap training pots with a more traditional bonsai shape. Had to grab a little extra soil for the bigger training pots and got the tiny roots deciduous bonsai mix. It looks pretty coarse though. Anyone have experience with the media below?

@Lightbrightt2010 im changing my mind on thinking bonsai would be easier to grow, i think now it might be much harder. Didnt have much luck with my amazon starter pack, i got one out of five to break ground. I did buy some seeds for an apple and chinese elm that i am going to try and start in some root riot cubes and start in tent with ladies over winter.
