Should I top or not? Advice needed

My first grow is going pretty well so far and I’d like to keep it that way. I’ve received recos to top these WW autos but I’ve read mixed things about topping autos. I’ve posted some side photos below and a location where I think I can top them. I’m in Day 25 and I have to make a decision soon before they start flowering. The plants looks great - very green, lots of leaves, no sign of stress. They are only about 4-5" tall but as you can see have lots of leaves. If I top them, then I plan to go with SCROG and get some trellis netting.

I’d hate to mess anything up now. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Imo, since it’s your first grow, leave them alone. Just observe and enjoy. Then you have a baseline idea of what your yield is. And on your second grow, try the other things your interested in. While your smoking a big fatty from your first grow, cause you didn’t screw it up.

I’ve read it’s not good to top autos because they don’t have time to recover before they flower. It would need to be done very early. I would let them be if it were me.

Yours are looking great and naturally bushy…
Let them do their thing and enjoy the ride !
I would not top them

I’ve got photos going and I topped them but I’ve also heard not to top autos. Never grown the autos but your girls look really healthy. I’d let them do their thing .

Weird i just had this convo about my WW autos. Topping is ok but FIMing is a huge no go because it takes longer to recover from. From what i gathered from the vets convo, is of you do top them do it early 3rd or 4th node early. For you let em ride watch em grow if you want to see how they do topped, you can come check my journal out, im only about a week and some change behind you with my autos. Here a pic of them. The one that looks like the leaves are pointing upwards was topped last night.

They all seemed to take the topping very well as I, myself am a noob and thought surely id kill em by now lol.

Thanks all for the input! One other question…so if I don’t top them is there still benefit to using trellis netting for a SCROG setup?

Eh almost defeats the the purpose @Badj

Imo, id keep topping until i saw the first flowers showing. Im a newb tho. Lol. I never grew autos…yet.lol. If i recall, you dont have to switch the lights, they flower on there own so id just keep topping wait a couple days, see if flowers show, if not id top again. Good luck brother.
