So Im only into day 6 on my first ever dry. Was trying to get to at least 8 hoping for 10. My dry room was very steady for first 4 1/2 days but now having trouble keeping humidity up and temp down during day. I have a split of 80/49 right now which i cant seem to fix until night. The small branches in my first pic are starting to snap but the buds on my big top colas in 2nd pic still have some bend but the buds feel like they are getting dry. I do have dry leaves which makes it a bit harder to tell. Should I xut everything down and start trimming and bagging or leave up for a bit longer. Dont want to overdry bigger buds . Any help or advice i would appreciate.
Go to a hardware store. Find a cheap wood moisture meter. Poke your buds so the pins penetrate the bud. Once it reads between 10-12% moisture, they’re ready to trim and bag.
Thank you…I have spent every penny i have on different things for this and cant even afford the cheap $14 one i saw. I know that seems ridiculous. I will do the best i can.
Not silly at all. We have all been there at one time or another. If the stem still bends, it’s likely too moist. Don’t freak out when the exteriors of your buds feel dry or brittle - there’s often moisture retained inside the meat of the buds. It will get drawn out in the process of curing.
Pulled apart a smaller bud off a bigger branch. It didnt reall want to come off stem the bud kind of ripped apart when i really yanked it but stayed on stem. The stem didnt snap it just kind off pulled apart like celery
The ones that are already snapping i would put them in a tote and sweat them to equalize the bud moisture. That will give you an additional day or 2 for the big buds to dry up some. The moisture meter takes all the guess work out if it. I will be buying one for my next harvest. Oh also if you want to slow down a dry or add moisture back u can use plant trim or fan blades
Thank you so much for the advice. I cut a few off and placed them into a 1 oz grove bag with a hygrometer. Going to check the reading in a couple hours
