Going to grow outside, however i need advice on setting up a clone room, INSIDE
room is 10X10X8
have a dehumidifier and humidifier also 12 inch intake and exhaust fans in the roof gables, going to grow clone in 5 gal food safe buckets with my own soil mix (thts a whole nother post)
What have i left out, besides light, gonna be full spectrum LED about about 1 foot from the tops and adjusted as needed, strain is STRAIGHT THAI. mother plant will be in here also
Welcome to this forum.
Clones, in 5-gallon buckets? Did I read that right?
Digging a hole, outside, big enough for a 5-g bucket?
Got a backhoe?
Clones are dixie cup residents, to be moved when the plant recovers from cloning.
Keeping the donor-mother in the same room, may require separation of mother from clones (different lighting requirements for different plant stages). Mixing soil in 5-g buckets is more work than mixing with 2 large storage bins. I spent this grow with cheap soil using MY blend of additives. When I finally saw a seller with Fox Farms Ocean Soil, I bought a bag. The difference is amazing. Seedlings are bigger, faster growing, and happy. Yes, more expensive, but balanced for Marijuana’s needs. I added extra peat moss to counter my OVERWATERING habit.
I start my clones is a small cabinet with a 135watt led. Started in a solo cup with a clear solo cup as a cover dome and spray the dome if it gets dry. They are usually foggy from humidity. From there 10 to 14 days later it gets transplanted into its final home. For me that’s a grow tent inside my home office. But it could just as easily be outside in the sun.
Intake and exhaust fans and all that are unnecessary for cloning. Plants have no smell till they are flowering. And for clones you will control the humidity in a tiny environment of a starter tray or solo cup.
I suggest looking into propagation trays and rockwool cubes or root cubes of some kind for taking clone cuts and rooting them. I think if you go straight into 5gal containers with a fresh-cut clone, you may have a hard time convincing her to develop roots.
I see no issue growing the clone out in the 5gal to get her large enough for an outdoor transplant once she’s established roots and ready to veg - if that was the question/intention, that would be fine.
I grow clones in one gallon nursery pots bottom fed , I get ten clones to a large plastic tray. Sounds like u are going to let your clones turn into full size plants. I put mine in the flower room at a foot tall.
Your gonna need ac if u don’t have it. Thai is a long grower if I remember like a 16 week flower time is that correct? I’ve found strains that are part Thai do best with mold outdoor but they take too long to finish flowering.
Keep us posted.
@DEEPDIVERDAVE he’s keeping the clones inside the room in the buckets, outside is a regular grow. He’s using his own soil.
I too, am trying “bucket shielding” on outdoor plants (slow the tornados).
@DEEPDIVERDAVE ?bucket shielding? I think he was simply saying his pots for his indoor will be 5 gal buckets.
I have placed some clones, outside, in a 5-gal bucket, for horizontal visual shielding and shielding from local gusting turbulence, while basking in natural sunlight. No room in tent. Clone or Fodder?
@DEEPDIVERDAVE bro your a complicated cat. I don’t follow your train of thought. All good though, grow on big guy!!!
I trim, I try cloning. Sooner or later I gotta get one to clone. 16 different methods tried in 3 weeks, no patience David
I mis-spoke, I wrongly said clones, I wish.
I place cuttings, no clones confirmed yet.
A Castaway, 10 days adrift.
Bucket shielding for cutting starting to be new independent life
@DEEPDIVERDAVE your plant looks nice.
She was banished from the tent population (over crowding).
