Seeds from feminized plants with no males?

I grew some feminized Purple Haze last year with seeds from ILGM. Although there were no male plants anywhere around,I still ended up with a few seeds. I have seen conflicting opinions on the viability of these seeds and what they will produce. The ILGM Grow Bible says they will be feminized. Other people on this forum said the will be hermaphrodites. Does anyone have any direct experience or knowledge of this? I have sprouted a few, so I know they are viable, but I don’t want to risk my whole grow if there is a chance they will produce pollen.

It’s normal for a female to produce a few seeds without pollination. I get 10 or so every harvest. They usually appear late in the flowering process and are often not mature enough to be viable.

Seeds produced from hermie pollination tend to carry the hermie trait, but it is not certain that they will indeed be hermies. If it was just normal random seeds from a non-hermie female you may not have anything to worry about.

I’ve never seen anyone here in the forum try to grow them out, so there may not be anyone around who could give you a case study from direct experience. We’ll see what others have to say.

Yes they will be. Some are viable, and some are not. I’ve had a mix of both viable and non viable. That’s just growing, some make it, some don’t.

A friend had a plant to hermie and pollinated the crap out of everything in the tent. I got a bud with seeds and some seeds he collected, about 20 or so. I have been growing them for a while (about 6 or more plants) and each one is just like the mother. The mother was a fem/auto and they have performed as well or better than seeds from a seed bank.

This is one, my most recent harvest. I had already removed about an oz from the lower part and this gave me another 3 and 3/4 oz. Topped it once.

This is one that is growing now. Not as many tops as the other one.

I always have a few. Doesnt matter where they are from lol. Id rather pic out a few than the crap i was pulling out in the 90s

Yes. They will be fems. I have about 20 gdp seeds from one of mine that self pollinated. 20 seeds out of 12 ounces. Here’s one of the results

No seeds were found in this plant whatsoever.

This is good info. I had one of my Girl Scout cookie extreme fem photos that I chopped as it had more seed than bud early in flower on my last run. I have no clue what happened with that plant as my environment was spot on the entire time. I think it’s just a genetic thing? I had one Girl Scout cookies extreme self pollinate on just a lower buds after I harvested my current run. I wonder if I woudnt have left all that Larfy garbage at the bottom of the plant where there was not much light if I would’ve found any seeds at all? I think I found maybe 15 or 20 seeds on this plant. The top buds have no seeds at all. The other 4 plants in the room are seedless as well. Those were the Gg#4s. I did find a nanner or two in the entire room and only on the gsce that had a few seeds. I really like the bud structure and the smell of the Girl Scout cookies plant that did have a few seeds in it. If I grow it again and it does the same thing with only a few seeds I’d be OK with that. I think I’m gonna have to plant a few of these just to see what they do. I have tried it before with a plant that was a full on Herme with ball sacks everywhere and all of those seeds did the exact same thing so I’ll never do that again. It’s only because this plant didn’t produce very many seeds that I’d be willing to run these again. If I do I’ll share my results!

Looks awesome great job

(seeds)

In 2+ years growing I have not had a single viable seed. A couple of undeveloped husks on a single harvest is all.

I have run across “nanners” a couple of times but I just pluck 'em off as they emerge. Found a ball sac one time at the bottom of a plant and plucked it off before it could open.
I guess the seeds I am growing came from nanners and not full herms since I have had no real problems.
:nerd_face:Bro science alert! :loud_sound:
If it is genetic then it will likely carry over. If it is due to stress or environmental issues it is unlikely to carry over. (IMHO)

Well as soon as I figure out what caused this one plant to give me some fully developed seeds Ill be better for it I’m sure. My room is pretty light proof. I did notice some light coming through the vent tubing on my exhaust. From what I understand it wouldn’t be enough light to cause this but it’s the only other thing that it could be in my case if it’s not genetic. It’s a damn bummer finding seeds if they are not worth planting

This is a follow-up to my original post asking about the viability of seeds that I got from a purple haze plant without any males to pollinate it. I grew two plants from those seeds. One turned out to be a male that I had to get rid of. The other one was a female, but it is not showing the beautiful purple buds like the parent to plant it came from. So what I learned and what I want to share is that seeds from an un-pollinated plant are not guaranteed to be female as someone suggested in this discussion, nor do they carry-on the strain characteristics of the parent plant. Bottom line is that it is not a good idea to bother planting these rogue seeds if you are expecting them to be the same as the parent plant!

I never expect the seeds to be same as the mother. I do plant the non hermie seeds i get. Sometimes hermie seeds. Just need to watch them. Got a bunch from a Candy Cream that I am sharing and will grow out myself.
