I have trouble getting autos to sprot I emailed ILGM about the problem and was told to Crack the seed with tweezers?? Really i have to do surgery on the seed to get it to sprot I’m rethinking my confidence in their seeds!!
Don’t take this the wrong way but don’t lose confidence in something that is at any fault here. If they had a problem with their Auto seeds this forum would be slam full of topics about it.
I’m probably going to guess and say is something that you are doing or not doing that’s causing the outcome.
If you don’t mind let’s go over your process and see if we can’t get this right before we start slamming a company that is a great at what they do and awesome for providing us with a great place to discuss it…
Step 1. Place the seeds in a cup of water to soak and leave them in a dark place for 6-12 hours. Ensure water temperature is between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Step 2. Remove the seeds and place them on a hard plate 2cm apart from each other between two paper towels lightly dampened with water. Place another hard plate over the top to create a dome. Place in a warm dark place and ensure that the paper towels remain lightly moist.
Step 3. Seeds usually will germinate after 2-3 days, but can take up to a week so be patient. When the tap root emerges, it is time to plant the seed in a suitable growing medium.
Step 4. Be careful when transferring your seed as we recommend using tweezers. If using soil, place your seed gently into a 0.5 to 1 cm hole in the center of your growing medium. You will want the taproot facing down. Ensure your growing medium is kept wet and you should see a seedling within 2-5 days.
I have already gave my info to ILGM about how i sprot my seeds and was told I’m doing nothing wrong and I know I’m not! Been growing 30 plus years I soak my seeds after 24hrs they are put into the paper towel put in plastic bag set on heat pad All feminized seeds 98% germination rate every time But when i do the same methods with autos its a 50% germination rate So i be happy to hear how others have success germinating Autos!!
I germinate photo period and auto flowering seeds using the same method as you described above. What strain or do you have issue with all auto seeds. A cannabis seed is a cannabis seed and improper storage or old improperly stored seeds can sometimes be difficult to crack. ![]()
Sorry you’re having a problem with them this is how I do mine with no issues. Straight in the rooting cube and two to three days later there’s a seedling
Right now, its Speed Run Granite Haze The last one i had a lot of trouble with was Apple Fritter Autos from ILGM I store my seeds in the dark climate-controlled room!
I treat all seeds the same when germing, 24 hrs in water cup, go to damp towels in a ziploc bag, lay on top of warm fridge. Taproot next day and into media. Sorry you’re having trouble with them , ILGM is great about replacing seeds that don’t sprout. Are they cracking or just not doing anything?
Be careful with some heat pads, I can’t use mine unless I put three layers of cloth material on top of pad and lay ziploc on them, otherwise it gets too hot and seeds will rot overnight! 80 degrees is plenty or just slightly warm to the touch.
@PeeWee66 , hey there. It’s true that you can get bad seeds from any seed bank. I had purchased some Gold Leaf photo seeds that I only got a 70% germination rate from ILGM. I reached out and had multiple people tell me that they had no problems with theirs. But, ILGM stepped right up and made it right. I’m now in my 3rd large grow doing a mix of photos and autos. But my second crop over the winter was 100% autos because of the season. I’m in SoCal, so I can grow almost year round. One thing that I got that really helped with my germination rate is the CannaKan system. I was running about 70-80% success across several seed banks. Now I’m running 90-95% using the new system. I made a post up in the preparations category. I do really like it but it took some minor tweaks and modifications to get it working properly. I’ll drop a picture so you can see what it looks like. Some don’t think that it’s necessary, but I have had good result after dialing it in. I’ve sprouted MJ seeds, vegetable seeds, and flower seeds in it now. Let me know if I can help.
Sunflower seeds…
Is the auto strain Bruce Banner by chance? I have seen a few struggle with that strain on the germ success rate lately.
Soak the seeds in 1% solution of hydrogen peroxide until they pop , then you can transfer them to distilled water and paper towel . If they are really old a tiny dash of clonex in the water with the peroxide . if they are really , really old before doing that , tape them in a packet and stick them to the outer edge of a powerful magnet at it’s south pole . Leave them over night then proceed with the soaking . This is pseudoscience that actually works . Especially on vegetables . Peace .
Never heard of this, what does the magnet do to the seed? What’s the theory behind the method? Do the seeds have any magnetism, or do you have to tape them?
yeah , metaphysician Ken Wheeler gave me the info , he understands magnetism more deeply than most physicists . No seeds are not magnetic , you need to wrap them then tape them to the outside edge of the face of the south pole . sounds like hoodoo but I’ve seen a difference . You can find Ken on YouTube , Theoria Apophasis , Magnetism .
@PeeWee66 . Check out Fastbuds. They have some excellent seeds
Let me help u out. 1st option Take a 600 watt MH and set it 18 inches above your pots, put seed in pot and water. Use only straight double washed coco no nutes.
2nd option put seed in pot, water, place in full sun. Keep soil damp. There is no better light than the sun.
Usually seeds that dont sprout are due to nutes, overwatering and temperature which is the most important of all. Set your temp to 81 degrees. Turn those damn fans off, and put the spray bottle down till the soil looks like its drying.
Good luck
Heres a tip, you will find photoperiod seeds to be far less finicky than autos. More bud, more thc and less prone to nute and light and herm issues.
