Seedlings Developing Slowly and Not Showing Many Leaves

Hey Everyone,

I am new to growing (only one clone grow under my belt last season) and am starting from seeds this season. I have two Blue Dream seeds and two Jack Herrer seeds that have been germinated and sprouted. I made the mistake of using lights with red spectrum after they sprouted so they got very leggy on my quickly, but after switching to a 24W T5 CFL, they started to develop better leaves. The thing is, the leaves are developing at a very slow pace (picture is taken today at 10 days from planting). Details for the grow can be found below. Is this normal for autos to grow this slow? In the picture the front left is Blue Dream and Front Right is Jack Herrer. In the back row the left is Jack Herrer and Right is Blue Dream. Do i need more lights? Is the humidity too low/temp too low? I really dont want to have to scrap the crop but if i am already behind and not going to get a good yeild from it, i could always start over with the other two seeds i have saved. Any help is greatly appreciated! Also if more pictures would help i can provide whatever. Thanks for the help!!

Hi there  Your girls are looking for light, that is why stretching. Get more light in there and transplant most of the stem to hold them up.

Good to know they aren’t in too much jeopardy! Would you recommend another t5 (same as one I have)? And what is the ideal distance between the canopy and light at this stage?

How long are you keeping inside? I don’t do autos or plant outside. I will tag a few for you. @beardless @BigItch @GrnyGrows

Was going to keep indoors for 3 weeks or until the third set of pointed leaves grow then transplant outside for the rest of the grow. But if there’s a better way I’d love to hear it.

Stretching for light. Your plants are producing all stalk looking for the light so little energy is being put into leaves.

what he said (more light)
Transplanting to larger pot and using soil for covering the leggy stem with dirt (support of top heavy).

I think it has been covered
add the extra light. I don’t use them but I think you can lower t5 within inches of the plants.
Transplant and bury the 70 - 80% of the stems.
I stopped growing autos and don’t grow outdoors.

Appreciate all the comments! I’ll add the extra light for sure. Do you all recommend transplanting once they are healthier or just do it now? If I go now they stay outdoors until flower…

Light warrior is a peat product with little to no nutritional value. It is useful for starting seedlings since it is difficult to overwater. You can either start feeding your plants a mild fertilizer, or transplant to soil now.

The light warrior will not hold together so you will need to be careful with the roots when transplanting.

Next time try this. Use fox farm soil in bottom half of the pot, light warrior on top. Hard to overwater, but when roots develop they will find the soil to feed themselves. Gives you plenty of time to transplant.
