I’ve got these two seedlings that are about 2 weeks old. My plan all along was to grow outdoors (coastal; SoCal). Moving to 1 gal pots in a couple days (they’ll eventually end up in 3 gal fabric pots). They’ve been on an 18/6 light cycle since sprouting.
1 seedling is a Fast Version (photoperiod but crossed with autoflower)
1 seedling fem photoperiod.
Both germinated in jiffy pellets and put into solo cups with Pro Mix Loose with Mycorrhizae.
Are they ready to go outdoors? Should I introduce them over the course of a week? Best way to protect them while so young?
They look good. Yes a gradual move outside is usually best. Start with a few hours the first day, best if it’s partially shaded. Take anywhere from a few days to a week to get them outside.
I would avoid both transplanting and putting them outside at the same time - you risk doubling up on stress.
Do you feel like I should transplant first and then transition or vice versa? I’ve currently got them under 100w LED grow light.
Thanks for the help
This is just my opinion, I would transplant first. Reason is you have a bigger pot for outside, to hold more moisture and keep roots a bit cooler. Going outside in small pots, those roots can potentially cook in the hot sun.
That totally makes sense to me
@SpaceFace how are those plants doing? They outside now?
Thanks for checking in! Just got them outside. They’re looking good (to my untrained eye).
While I’m here: I’ve got jacks nutrients part A and part B. Was going to feed them since they’re in need of watering.
(They’re just about 4 weeks old)
I didn’t buy jacks epsom salts at the time (overlooked). Should I buy theirs specifically or can I get some pure Epsom salts from Amazon? Don’t really want to wait 3-6 days on Jacks if it isn’t absolutely necessary.
@GardenDan (see above)
Plants look good!
I haven’t used Jacks some I’m not sure. I think @OGIncognito and @MidwestGuy use or have used jacks, can either of you help out with @SpaceFace ’s question?
Regular Epsom will work just get unscented. I’ve omitted the Epsom and use a 4/2 schedule . Magnesium is included in part A
Thanks!
