My seedling feels a bit like paper to touch , is this under watered? A bit confused thanks
Just a couple thoughts before the real pros jump in to help. 1: Best not to handle it much at this stage.
2: If you can, post a clear picture in good white light of your plant/s so we can get a good look to determine if there is any issue. If you are using a light that is purple, pink, orange/ yellow then take the picture with the light off and use the flash.
Chances are it is either a non issue or can be resolved easily. Happy growing!
Give them a touch less light. Raise it or dial it back. Get some stretch. Heavy light in veg will keep them short. Look good. Cant tell about water from pics. Plant looks healthy.
@Storm thanks mate !! I will do that and it makes sense why it’s so short still , I’ve got the light 12 inches away atm. The plant is over 3 weeks out of seed nearly four and thought it should be taller
Yea get to 28 or so. Will be a big difference. After stretch light them up. Also can remove bottom leaves. Will send them up instead of just getting thick.
Agreed, that looks plenty healthy. A little stretch would help but just a little less compact and you’ll be golden. Far better than a super stretched wispy can’t stand up on its own plant.
I was picturing more this size when I said that
Looks like you’re past the super delicate phase so not as much of a problem as I first imagined.
Thanks so much for your help . How long does it take to stretch?
The question is a little tricky. Raising the light as recommended above will IF the intensity is not so high that it is still getting more light than it requires, which is a lot in terms of what other species can handle. What @Storm is telling you is to give it less than adequate light for a few days or so to encourage it to reach for the light. Having a way to measure it helps a lot. I should also tell you I’m not an advanced grower and I keep out of the advice game generally but make exceptions when I’m confident that I’m not giving bad info. You will quickly notice that there are different schools of thought on many subjects here and methods of measurement is one of them. Some go by ppfd (photosynthetic photon flux density) whereas I prefer DLI (daily light integral). Opinions vary on equipment to take those readings also. I use an app called photone. The app is free technically but you have to buy a one time unlock of the sunlight setting regardless of the fact that the light is artificial because it’s the most accurate compared to the professional apogee light meter. Given all that, if it was my tent I’d turn it down to seedling stage levels and watch n wait at a DLI around 20. There’s a lot of great collegiate level info on lighting on you tube if you search Dr Bruce Bugbee. My # could be slightly off but in the ballpark of where it needs to be to get the plant to reach for the sky. Lots of experts here I’m attempting to parrot right now, too many to start naming but @dbrn32 is the moderator that handles many of the lighting questions if more precise answers are needed. Hopefully some of this tirade was useful . Happy growing!
You’re not off base with info you provided.
I agree that lower light intensity should help this plant grow to a more natural appearance.
Thanks for the confirmation @dbrn32 . I was getting out of my comfort zone on that one when pressed for an exact number.
Numbers. Who needs stinking numbers. Tried to read the ones written on the seat of my pants but not limber enough. Grin.
@OverallQuill80 thanks for your detailed info … don’t underestimate yourself ! You know your grows
Appreciate that. Glad that the info was useful for you. Grow forth
