So I have a few GG going. When they popped I turned on the lights, 30 inches and set the dimmer to 10%. That made them stretch so then I wised up and did some reading and I found someone here posted the company rec for seedlings with the light is 20-40% so I reset to 20%. Stopped the stretch but now I’m getting lean. Spun the cups and they’re still leaning same dir after 2 days. Does anyone think the light needs to be cranked up more? These guys are a week old today, leaves are good color, not folding in any dir and they face the lights and are horizontal. It’s just the stems leaning. I’ve had a slight breeze going on them since they popped as I’m keeping a small pot with distilled water and a clean towel partially submerged to produce humidity and the fan keeps it circulating well. averages 73 in the day with between 60-72% humidity.
I can’t be mistreating them unless the light just isn’t strong enough. Since they aren’t stretching anymore but rather just leaning, should I just leave them and spin, up the light or reduce the light etc? At first I thought it was too much light but any less and they stretch.
Through this first week I’m pulling 100 watts out of the wall with this light. I measure roughly 8 to 9k using a phone app and reading off white paper at the same height as the leaves.
Does gorilla glue have any tendency to lean that we know of? Too much circulation? Light?
I’d think 100 watts out of this light at 30" should be good for week old seedlings.
Pictures would help they may have stretched so much that there having a hard time holding them selves up you can add a little soil to the pot or some gardening wire to hold them up
Turning the light to 50% or even 100% at seedling stage? What happens when I go through veg and then flower and I can’t turn the light up any higher?
I though the goal with lighting was to start out around the 20 to 25% mark then move up to 50% or so, then start flowering at 75 or so then goto max on the last half of flower?
Yeah cannabis plants are like tomato plants but on my seedling stage I start with 50% and move to 100% and I don’t have no problems they healthy and pretty, you girls look pretty and healthy a little stressed by the light but is a lot of different way ppl do with seedling just look my auto with 20/4 and now move to 18/6 in 100% light
So what loght how high above and how much is it powered to. They stretched a bit not bad. When u transplant to bigger just bury what u dont want sticking out and ull b good. I do my hlg 260xl set lowest power about 24 to 30 onches above and watch them usually a day and a half to 2 days ull see if she is stretching or growing good to adjust from there. Adjust one slowly at a time and watch for tge w days again. U can grow seedling til they get first set of leaves with a reg cfl light bulb in a lamp on for 24 hrs. At the seedling stage i jave a dimmable 300w biparspectra light works super well for seedlongs. Good luck man wish u the best here.
Hello Not to hijack but i am having a similar issue but can’t figure out how to make a new topic I suspect the cause of my issue is not enough light as I’m a total novice and just started my first seedlings on a whim. Can anyone recommend a basic simple grow light to use that is powerful enough for 1-3 seedlings before moving them outside. Currently I’m using miracle grow bulb i had lying around. The stats are as follows:
Miracle LED® Ultra Grow Light Bulb
Full-spectrum light is great for houseplants and indoor gardens
5" L x 3" W
12 watts
Color temperature is 5000K
E26/E27 screw-in base fits standard sockets
20,000 hours estimated lifespan
Clearly its not powerful enough to prevent stretching. I just need a powerful light/lamp/bulb for the seedling phase before transporting outdoor. I see pot in a pot has a light/lamp but its about $170 and seems to cover only one plant. In my case i just need it for the seedling phase. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have a bunch of florescent lamps in my space which would ideal but they are T5 size and only use one foot/12 inch bulbs and i don’t think anyone makes a one foot T5 bulb.
Please recommend a budget light/lamp powerful enough for seedlings only.

I think Hellraiser found a decent choice there. It all depends on your budget I guess. From what Hellraiser posted it seems you’re getting a good board and good LEDs. Should be good enough for veg. I find varying intensity levels for seedlings depending on where you look. With this board and these LEDs you should get decent micromoles out of it, enough to veg for a while. If you can be there when they pop and see how high it’s getting the better if you can dim the light and bring it up if you need it.
In my case it was likely a couple things, light output was a bit low so I turned it up. That stopped the stretch. As for the lean it was partly due to stretch and then the quick growth that popped when I turned the lights up. Couple that with a watering and the fact that my fan wasn’t blowing directly on them but wasn’t oscillating either and I had a few reasons why. They’re all doing well now. In a couple days I’ll be transplanting up as they’re already cup wide but without a decent full set of trues showing. Sunday should be their day to move.
