Seed Preservation?

So someone told me you can put seeds in the freezer to preserve them for longer intervals, I did this with some seeds I ordered from RQS.

I tried to germ two seeds (one royal critical from RQS & another northern lights, not sure where from) both auto flower.

Only the northern lights showed a tap root after 3 days.

Is freezing not the way to go? If not is there a way to germ them from the freezer?

I usually use float tek and haven’t had a problem with it until now!

Left is random northern lights seed
Right is royal critical RQS

I usually dry mine to 50 percent humidity and refrigerate in sealed bottles. Freezer is fine for super long term but fridge will keep them for years.:+1::thinking:

Do you think the freezer is the reason it didn’t germ? It’s been a week

Doubtful, freezing is used for long term storage.

The seeds will germinate under warm/wet conditions so the best storage practice is to keep them cool and dry.

Any number of reasons could lead to a seed not germinating so I would hate to speculate on why a small number wouldn’t.
