Hello All,
My strawberry banana auto just spouted but the seed hull is stuck to it hard. I as gently as I could gave it a lil squeeze with some tweezers to try to crack it more. Is there anything I can do to help it? Or am I just facing natural selection and poor fella just aint meant to be? Ive never had one stuck this hard. It Was a straight to soil planting.
You can spritz a little water or saliva on it, that will soften it up and then very gently use a pair of tweezers to remove the husk.
I forget who told me this, but put some saliva on it. It has enzymes that will help soften the seed hull.
I was told that this usually happens because the seed was planted too shallow. Can’t confirm, but once it happened to me twice I started making my holes a wee bit deeper.
Jinx!

That helmet is at the very tip of leaf. Dont sweat it. Just gently pick it off. It might even just fall off on it’s own.
Haha yeah that’s what I let it do …the last pic is what the stalk looks like now …and literally it just fell off the other day …I still don’t think the plant ever noticed
Looks like a langolier is eating your coty
Mist a few times with spray bottle , I like to use two toothpicks an spread apart to pop it off.
Good luck ![]()
Lol woah what does that mean ?? Hahahaha sounds scary
Haha ohhh my bad I got ya yeah …I forgot about that movie !
Ive been spitting on it. It looks like there may be some change. Im not going to give up on her just yet. I will say that I am going to go back to my paper towel germinating technique. I feel this might not have happened if the seed had a good soak.
Plant them husk down/tail up when tail is short. Haven’t seen a helmet since.
That was a long wait! Good it reinforces the old lesson of patience, I might be more productive if I didnt give up on the stragglers and late-sprouters
It is an autoflower though. I dont know when their internal clock starts running but I may have lost 4-5 precious days of veg growth. At this point in my experience im happy with pretty much any kind of yield. If struggle and stress do cause thc increases My grows should be potent if nothing else. lol
Extra seeds here, gonna try what @dbrn32 saying, deeper and ‘upside down’ I been thinking by the time they pop outtta the soil they must be just rearin’ to go
I don’t know if thats how it’s spelled raring whatever like a race horese
Not too deep. Just plant them with short tail, husk down, and gently cover. Being careful not to contaminate of course.
thanks, theyre wet, gonna go for about 3/8 to 1/2 deep with some spare free seeds. Might end up being solo/yogurt cup grows cuz it’s just for practice
